Anyone else jump out their skin with the recent alert? ‼️ 🚨?

Here is some useful information regarding the message.

🔥 The recent Government alert has increased awareness of wildfire risks, which has been very important with the recent weather.

Our crews are working around the clock to keep our communities safer, and that includes our fantastic control team who take calls and help mobilise firefighters every day.

They’ve noticed a sharp spike in non-emergency 999 calls since the alert.

Please remember that 999 should only be used to report emergencies.

Where there’s a fire, visible plumes of smoke, people at risk, get to safety and call 999.

If you're sharing information, concerns about potential fire-setting or risks and there's no immediate danger, we still want to hear from you, but please do this through FireStoppers on 0800 169 5558 or online via www.firestoppersreport.co.uk

Help us keep 999 free for emergencies.

🔥 During fires this Summer we’ve had a lot of fantastic farmers help us to extinguish fires, by creating firebreaks, assisting with water supplies and adding their local knowledge.

Creating firebreaks is also a good idea ahead of an emergency.

Before moving into the centre of a field, creating a firebreak could slow the spread of a crop fire.

Consider:
✅ Harvesting headlands first
✅ Creating a perimeter swathe around the field
✅ Following with a plough or disc cultivator in particularly dry conditions

These measures can help contain fires and also improve access for emergency vehicles if they're needed.

Thank you again to all the farmers who’ve assisted us this Summer.

🔥 Call out! ! ! 📟 🚒

Our crew were called alongside crews from Binbrook Fire Station and Louth Fire Station to a large stack fire in a stubble field.

With a significant amount of material involved, the farmer was able to create a large fire break which helped prevent the fire from spreading further across the field.

Once the fire had been brought under control, our crew stayed on scene into the night to monitor the area and deal with any remaining hotspots, helping to make sure the fire didn’t re-establish.

A great example of crews working together with the landowner to protect the surrounding area. 👨‍🚒🔥

🚒 Interested in joining us?

Our retained firefighters come from all sorts of backgrounds and respond to incidents in our local community.

If you live or work locally and are interested in becoming a retained firefighter, we’d love to hear from you.

Could you be part of the team? 👊
