Consultation on the next draft of the Hinckley and Bosworth Local Plan is now under way.
The Proposed Submission Local Plan, known as a Regulation 19, is a key stage in Local Plan preparation and the final opportunity to comment before the Plan is submitted to the Secretary of State for examination by an independent Inspector.
The Regulation 19 Local Plan is out for consultation until 5pm on 21 September 2026.
The Local Plan will guide how the borough grows and changes over the coming years, including where homes, employment and community facilities should be located.
At this stage, comments should focus specifically on whether the Local Plan is sound (meaning it has been positively prepared, justified, effective and consistent with national policy) and legally compliant (meaning it has been produced in line with the legal and procedural requirements).
All comments received during the Regulation 19 Consultation will be submitted alongside the Local Plan to the Secretary of State later this year when the plan is submitted for examination.
Executive Member for Planning Cllr Bill Crooks said: “The Borough Council remains committed to delivering a clear and deliverable Local Plan that supports sustainable growth, provides new and enhanced infrastructure, and protects the borough’s environmental and heritage assets, along with so much more.
“I encourage all residents and local organisations to get involved as the Local Plan reaches this important stage. Our planning officers have organised drop-in events at venues across the borough to support this consultation. They look forward to seeing you there and hearing your views.”
