Last night (01/06/26), Inspector Garrett and Sergeant Laycock from the Marlborough Neighbourhood Policing Team were pleased to attend the Mayoral Reception, marking the formal inauguration of Mark Luson as the new Town Mayor.

It was a great opportunity to strengthen the close working relationship between local policing and our civic leaders. Partnerships like these are key to supporting community safety, well-being, and public confidence.

We look forward to continuing to work alongside the Mayor and our partners to support the residents of Marlborough.

Special Constables from our Specialist Roads Safety Unit (SRSU) were out on a proactive operation on Sunday 17 May 2026 in the Marlborough and Swindon areas.

Eight volunteer officers, all with a strong commitment to road safety, contributed a combined total of 80 hours of operational policing.

During the operation, they achieved the following results:

2 vehicle seizures for no insurance or driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence
5 Traffic Offence Reports for mobile phone use while driving
3 speeding offences (in Marlborough)
1 Traffic Offence Report for an illegal tyre
2 Fixed Penalty Notices for non-conforming number plates
4 attendances at road traffic collisions.

This work is focused on tackling the “Fatal 5” offences, which are:

- Excessive speed
- Not wearing a seatbelt
- Using a mobile phone while driving
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Careless or dangerous driving.

By targeting these behaviours, our SRSU officers are working to reduce harm and make Wiltshire’s roads safer for everyone.

🚔 This week, PC Rolph and PCSO Lowe had the pleasure of visiting WansdykeSchool, Bradbury Manor and St. Katharine’s School Fayre, spending time engaging with members of the community of all ages.

These visits are a vital part of neighbourhood policing, helping to build trust, strengthen relationships and support early understanding of the role we play in keeping people safe. 👮

During their visits, they spoke with children and residents about what the police do day-to-day, what happens when laws are broken, and how we work to protect people and prevent harm within our communities.

Engaging with young people and local residents in this way helps create safer, more informed communities, where everyone feels confident to speak to us and seek support when needed. 🤝

We are aware of ongoing concerns in Baydon and the surrounding areas relating to anti-social behaviour (ASB) and, more recently, incidents of criminal damage.

We are actively working with partners and increasing local patrols to address these issues.

How you can help prevent crime:

• Ensure vehicles and properties are secure at all times
• Keep gardens, sheds and outbuildings locked
• Consider installing CCTV, doorbells or sensor lighting
• If safe to do so, make a note of descriptions, times and locations
• Speak with young people in your household about the impact of ASB and criminal damage.

Reporting incidents:

Your reports help us build intelligence and take action.

• Non-emergency incidents (including ASB or criminal damage that's already happened):
o Call 101
o Report online via the Wiltshire Police website: https://orlo.uk/2jdti

• If criminal damage or ASB is happening at the time (in progress), or there is immediate danger:
o Call 999

• Anonymous reporting:
o Contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111

Why reporting matters:

Even if an incident seems minor, every report helps build a bigger picture. This allows us to:

• Identify patterns
• Target patrols
• Take enforcement action where appropriate

We appreciate your continued support in helping keep our communities safe.
