"A chorus of thunderous silence
Two minutes to remind us
Of those who look fear in the eye
And say no. I choose hope."

As well as standing together in Remembrance on 11 November (Armistice Day), we also observe a Two Minute Silence at 11am on Remembrance Sunday. Please join us for just two minutes for our Armed Forces, past and present.

From the frontline overseas to the local garage forecourt, our soldiers can be posted anywhere at any moment.

For Sophie, a driver in the The Royal Logistic Corps, this meant being deployed to Afghanistan with 48 hours’ notice as part of the evacuation effort; then, less than two months later, delivering fuel to petrol stations across Essex.

Having gone straight from school to college and into a job, I never got the chance to travel like a lot of my friends.

Now I get the best of both worlds. Next on the list, canoeing in the Canadian Rockies.

Today we welcome two of our newest soldiers into the Sqn and the Regimental family: POC Parker and Tan, both will be training to become a Potential Reserve Officers within the RLC.

POC Parker graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Business Studies before moving into recruitment. She joined Thames Water is now working full time as an Employment and Skills Partner, helping to deliver skills and strategies around recruitment and improving the social mobility of the communities around the area.

After a long application and true determination, we are delighted to welcome her to the Sqn, and we wish her every success in her new journey as a potential Reserve Officer.

POC Tan currently works as an Associate for a Real Estate Agency in Berkshire, who has completed the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award & Junior Leaders during his time in the Air Training Corps and becoming a Reserve Soldier was the next logical option for him to do. He is hoping that this experience and training provided by the Army will help him to help further develop himself into a management role in civilian life.

Congratulations to both of you and we look forward to your success on your journeys to become an Army Reserve Officer within the RLC.

There's something exciting about packing up my work bag on a Tuesday evening and heading over to our weekly training at the Reservist unit.

Joining a local unit, I've commit to a minimum of 27 days each year. Each sessions counts towards these and it's great to have something social and active to look forward to in the working week.

Congratulations to Cpl Farr from 871 Postal and Courier Sqn who was awarded 3rd place in the ABF Soldiers Photo competition 📸

Cpl Farr recently completed an attachment with the media team and whilst she was there captured this brilliant image of soldiers of parade during their ‘Fit for Role’ inspections in preparation for their ceremonial duties this summer in London, Cpl Farr’s image combined with 11 others is featured in the calendar which is available to buy from the ABF shop 📆

Cpl Farr has opted to deploy to the Falklands in January 2022, looking forward to fulfil her C1 Postal and Courier capability - a tour that also oozes picturesque content and settings that Cpl Farr shall embrace, by continuing to capture both military and location in a photojournalist manner 📷 Congratulations Cpl Farr 👏
