Do you care about our town and want to help shape its future? We’re looking for local people to join Darley Dale Town Council as Councillors.

This voluntary position doesn’t require any previous experience, just enthusiasm, a willingness to listen and a passion for making a difference.

Training and support are provided.

As a Town Councillor, you can:
• Support community projects and local groups
• Help influence decisions that affect residents
• Protect what makes Darley Dale special
• Work with others to improve our town
• Attend monthly meetings at The Whitworth

Bins will be collected from 6am this week due to the hot weather 👇

Bin collection days are the same.

☀️BIN COLLECTION UPDATE ☀️

With high temperatures forecast this week, the waste & recycling crews will start collections from 6:00am, beginning tomorrow (Tuesday).

What this means for residents:
• Please put your bin out the night before, or before 6:00am on your collection day.
• If you’re waiting for a missed bin, leave it out – crews may arrive earlier than usual.
• Please help us spread the word to friends, family, and neighbours, especially those not on social media.

Looking out for our crews:
While we all enjoy the sunshine, working in extreme heat can be challenging and potentially dangerous for our collection teams. Starting earlier helps keep them safe.

If you would like to show your appreciation, a small gesture such as offering a cold drink or an ice lolly on a hot day would be hugely appreciated by the crews – it really does make a difference!

Hot weather tip:
Please remember to keep your bins cleaned and washed out, as heat can quickly cause unpleasant smells.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Annual Town Council Meeting on Wednesday. Your views - especially around the Local Plan Review - helped us share where the process currently stands, and it was great to see residents connecting with each other about forming a local residents’ association.

Your openness and honesty give us a clear picture of the issues that matter most in Darley Dale.

Following the Annual Town Council Meeting, we held our monthly Council meeting where we are pleased to confirm that 𝗖𝗹𝗹𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 has been re‑elected as Mayor for 2026/2027, and 𝗖𝗹𝗹𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿 has been re‑elected as Vice Chair. Both councillors are strongly community‑focused and dedicated to ensuring Darley Dale remains a great place to live 👏

🚧𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻🚧

We’ve tried to share roadwork updates on Facebook, but the number of works happening across Darley Dale - and how often they change - means we simply can’t keep up. Because of this, we won’t be posting individual roadwork updates on Facebook going forward.

All official roadworks are published on one.network (https://one.network/tm), which is the most accurate and up‑to‑date source. The site also includes notifications of events that the Highway Authority has been informed about. Residents can sign up for daily, weekly or monthly email alerts for any upcoming works in their chosen area by creating a free account and selecting the locations they want to follow.

If you have concerns about current roadworks, these should be raised directly with the organisation carrying out the work. Their contact details should be displayed on site, including the company name and a telephone number.
