Happy World Ranger Day from the Culzean Rangers!🌳🏰

Today we are taking a moment to celebrate the work carried out to protect our natural and cultural heritage - not just across our beautiful coastlines and woodlands here in Ayrshire, but all around the world.

Being a Ranger means wearing a lot of different hats (and muddy boots), whether looking after wildlife, managing habitats, maintaining access or sharing stories of Culzean with our amazing visitors, we love what we do. 🥾

But today is also looking beyond Culzean as we want to send a huge shoutout to our fellow Rangers worldwide, from those guarding endangered wildlife in national parks to those caring for local green spaces. 🌏

Don't let the name fool you - there is nothing 'lesser' about this stunning moth!

Sleek, silver and subtly dramatic, The Lesser Swallow Prominent looks almost like a piece of polished driftwood or a high-tech stealth jet. ✈️

Like most prominent moths, it has a furry 'tuft' on its thorax that sticks up when resting.

Imagine spending your time in one of Scotland's most iconic castles, sharing fascinating stories, welcoming visitors from around the world, and becoming part of a passionate team dedicated to preserving our heritage.

We are looking for enthusiastic Castle Volunteers to join us at Culzean Castle for the rest of the season and beyond.

What you would do:
👋Welcome visitors from far and wide to the Castle
📖Share stories and the history of Culzean's fascinating past
🫱Meet people from around the world
🎉Assist with special events
🕰️Guided tours
🎓Gain new skills

No previous experience is needed. If you have an interest in history, heritage, customer services or simply want to give back to your local community, we'd love to hear from you. Full training, support, a uniform and travel expenses are provided.

Whether you can volunteer daily, weekly, monthly or even just a few times a year, there is a place for you in the Castle at Culzean.
