It's with sadness we need to inform you that Liberty Swim School will not be reopening at Mayfield School. The new school bursar has decided for a range of reasons, that he does not want any external providers using the school facilities throughout the term. Even though H2O swim school and ourselves have written many letters and requested meetings (which were declined), to try negotiate the concerns and explain that the village and surrounding area rely on the pool to teach local children of all ages a life skill, we have unfortunately not been successful.

After over 15yrs of running the swim school, we are proud of the 1000 + kids that have learnt to swim. We have worked with many great teachers and assistants. However, we are devastated to close (through no choice of our own). We want to thank our many loyal families for their support and understanding. We Hope you all find lessons in the nearby towns. Mark & Ally

Update. Since writing this post and sharing it here and the Mayfield community FB page, I have just had a BBC reporter and and also Sussex Radio contact me, asking me about the story.... maybe it will help the school realise the local impact for children learning to swim.

Unfortunately no news on when we can reopen. I have emailed Mayfield School Burser along with the other external hirers and currently waiting a response. Very frustrating as I'm sure you can imagine, but we are trying. Will update as soon as I hear anything. Mark

Dear Parents. It saddens me and the Liberty Swim School team that lessons at Mayfield School will not be re-starting in Jan. As an external hirer of the school facilities we have no control over the situation, even though have all the correct risk assessments and insurance. We will write again to the new school bursar to see if he will consider Easter opening. We miss you all and really want our Swim School back for the Mayfield community as soon as we get the green light. Regards Mark & Ally

Dear parents and carers,

We are saddened to say that at this time Mayfield Girls School have decided to keep their facilities shut to all outside contractors and the public. This is due to Covid19 and Safeguarding of the school. They have however said they could reopen to us in January.
We have been in regular correspondence with the school and we will let you know when/if this changes.

We are sorry to let you all down as we were ready to go with a robust COVID Risk Assessment and an industry approved opening plan but this is unfortunately out of our hands.

We hope you and your families are well. We miss you all. We plan to reopen as soon as we can.

Dear Parents. Mayfield School has taken the decision that due to COVID-19 the pool will be closed to all external providers with immediate effect until further notice, which means we are going to have to postpone the final 3 lessons of term.

We will arrange credits for the next term which we are hoping to start 25th April for the Summer, but will update you all if the situation changes.

There is no question these are worry & difficult times, but together with calm and sensible responses plus accepting sound advice from government authorities, we will all get through this.

Thank you in advance for your continued support.
