With an eye catching design and brilliant black background, our new 50% recycled cartridges reduce the dependence on virgin plastic material, therefore reducing carbon emissions and resource usage, plus with the added benefit of reducing landfill usage of disposed plastics.

We are pleased to say that after careful testing over a 6 month period we are now able to offer these 50% recycled cartridges to all customers! We are also pleased to say that this change allows us to follow the current PPT (Plastic Packaging Tax) legislation in the UK.

External Wall Materials & Relevant Buildings.
How do I know if my building is relevant?
The industry has a huge variety of building materials that can be used during a construction project. However, we need to be vigilant when it comes to certain materials and how our buildings are constructed in terms of fire safety.
Within Approved document B there is guidance on the type of materials allowed within the external wall as described in regulation 7.2, that materials within the external wall should be A1 or A2-s1 d0 classified to BS EN 13501-1. This allows industry designers and specifiers to make informed selection choices with regards to aspects such as sheathing boards, insulation and cladding.
The 7.2 ADB regulation applies to the following buildings with a storey of at least 18m above ground level and contains:
- one or more dwellings;
- an institution;
- a room for residential purposes
This includes student accommodation, care homes, sheltered housing, hospitals and dormitories in boarding schools. However, the following are excluded; any room in a hostel, hotel or a boarding house

How is the 18m measured?
Diagram D6 in Appendix D of ADB shows that the height of the top storey is measured from the upper floor surface of the top floor to ground level on the lowest side of the building.

" FSi are experts on Passive Fire Protection and intumescent materials!

Did you know that Intumescent material does not meet Regulation 7.2 of Euroclass A1 or A2-s1, d0 in accordance with BS EN 13501-1 as required for relevant buildings in accordance with approved document B.

So how come it can be used as part of cavity barriers within the external wall?

Paragraph 3 of regulation 7 goes on to state that Paragraph (2) does not apply to: “intumescent and fire stopping materials where the inclusion of the materials is necessary to meet the requirements of Part B of Schedule 1;”

The FSi Silverliner OSCB range uses intumescent which can close up to either a 25mm or 50mm ventilation gap in less than 5 minutes. General activation temperatures are around 180 degrees and a full seal is established to provide up to 120/120 EI.
