👏 A huge congratulations to 14-year-old Joey Barrett from Cambridge, who has received an EEAST CEO Commendation after using his first aid skills to help his mum when she collapsed at home.

When Suzanna Ruggieri blacked out and fell in the garden, Joey drew on the first aid training he had received through the Army Cadets to stay calm, assess the situation and care for her until she recovered.

Moved by her son's actions, Suzanna later wrote to EEAST to praise the care and support Joey provided after the incident, as well as the help he has given her on many other occasions.

After reading her letter, Chief Executive Neill Moloney decided Joey deserved a formal commendation.

Joey was invited to Cambridge Ambulance Station to receive his award and enjoy a behind-the-scenes tour, where he met Student Paramedic Norman Ekins-Bell, a former Army Cadet who served in the Army before joining EEAST four years ago.

Joey's actions are a powerful reminder of the importance of first aid training and the difference it can make in an emergency. He is also passionate about helping more young people learn lifesaving skills, believing they should have the opportunity to gain the confidence and knowledge to help others when it matters most.

Congratulations, Joey. Your calmness, maturity and quick thinking make you a very worthy recipient of this recognition. 💚

On , our Chief Executive, Neill Moloney, and the team have been out in Suffolk meeting emergency service partners and thanking them for their partnership and collaboration.

We brought along our welfare wagon, supported by East of England Ambulance Service Charity , to offer much needed refreshments to all of our colleagues.

We work side-by-side every day to keep our communities safe and deliver the best possible care and response when it's needed most.

Today is Emergency Services Day (999 Day) and we want to celebrate the strength of partnership across the emergency services 💚 🚑

Throughout this month, colleagues from ambulance, police and fire services across the east of England are coming together as part of a major multi-agency training exercise, preparing for some of the most challenging incidents we could face.

By training together, we strengthen our ability to respond effectively when it matters most and help keep our communities safe.

Thank you to everyone across the emergency services for your dedication, professionalism and commitment every day.

🎙️ Our Clinical Lead for the Stroke Video Triage service, Brittany Farthing, was interviewed on BBC Radio Norfolk this morning to discuss the life-changing impact of the scheme across the region.

The innovative service is helping stroke patients receive faster assessments and treatment, improving outcomes when every second counts.

Brittany also shared the key signs of stroke and highlighted the importance of acting quickly if you suspect someone is having one.

"When patients and families are facing the end of life, every moment matters."

That's why improving end-of-life care is something that Advanced Paramedic Megan Kelly is so passionate about.

Megan has helped develop new guidance to support children receiving end-of-life care, enabling more families to have choice about where that care is delivered. She also shares her expertise through training and mentoring, helping colleagues feel more confident when caring for patients during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

Her work is helping to ensure more patients receive compassionate, personalised care that respects their wishes.

In recognition of her contribution, Megan has been shortlisted for the Excellence in Patient Care Award at the EEAST Stars of EEAST Awards, which take place in Peterborough on 10 September.
