Melbourne Hall Gardens with its broad sweeps of lawn, avenues and unexpected vistas is one of the best known historical gardens in the country and is the best surviving early 18th century English garden in the manner of le Notre.

Some of the great people to have lived in Melbourne Hall in the past are really brought to life through their letters.

Gill shares some words penned by Betsy Coke, sister to the Rt. Hon. Thomas Coke, who helped to hold down the fort while her brother spent much of his time in London.

The Hall is open to the public for one more weekend, our last day open being 31 Aug. Don’t miss your chance this year to grab some tickets and hear about more of the colourful characters that have lived here.

A tour through the gardens with David 🌿

Our Head Gardener, David, recently showed a group around our garden, sharing the history, stories and little details that make the gardens so special.

There’s still time to come and experience them for yourself this year, with the Gardens open until 30th September. 🌳

And if you’re visiting in August, you can also explore Melbourne Hall itself, with guided tours running Tuesday-Thursday.

David is heading down to the hives with our beekeeper to collect some of the honey from the bees here at Melbourne Hall Gardens 🍯🐝

With around 50,000-100,000 bees calling our gardens home, there’s always plenty of activity in the hive!

Come along as we get up close with the bees and see how the honey is carefully collected. 🌿

Honey can be purchased from our coffee hut or the garden and hall ticket desks when we’re open.

Stevie Davies tells us about her piece, Shared Lines, which is on display as the centrepiece of the Secret Sculpture Garden which visitors to the gardens can enjoy until the Melbourne Art and Architecture Trail on the 19th and 20th of September.

The Secret Sculpture Garden is free to access for all garden visitors.
