We have implemented a dispersal order in Melksham town centre and King George V Park due to repeated antisocial behaviour.

In recent days, we have received numerous reports of youth antisocial behaviour in and around the town centre, including alcohol use, entering derelict buildings and defecation in public.

This has been accompanied by offences such as theft and arson in the skate park.

As a result, we are implementing a section 35 dispersal order in the town centre and King George V Park.

The order gives officers the power to temporarily exclude anyone suspected of engaging in antisocial behaviour or disorder from a designated area.

Should the individual return to the area then they are liable to be arrested.

It will be in place until 1.45pm on 10th October.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Charly Chilton said: “The recent increase in antisocial behaviour is completely unacceptable. Members of the public shouldn’t have to put up with being harassed or intimidated when simply going about their day.

“This order will be in place for an initial 48-hour period and anyone found to be involved in antisocial behaviour will be dealt with swiftly and robustly.

“Creating and maintaining safer public spaces for all continues to be a Force priority and we will continue to work to ensure Melksham is a safe and peaceful place to live.”

A woman has been taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition following a collision on the A350 at Lacock this morning (01/10).

At around 8.45am, we responded to a collision between a pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, and a van on the A350.

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the van, a 39-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by careless driving. He has been taken into custody for questioning.

The road is currently closed while an investigation is carried out.

Seized 💪

Yesterday morning, officers from the Melksham NPT, supported by colleagues from the Trowbridge and Warminster NPTs and the Neighbourhood Tasking Team, executed simultaneous Misuse of Drugs Act warrants at two addresses in Melksham following intelligence around drug dealing.

As a result of the activity, two men were arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences. A quantity of Class B and Class C drugs, along with more than £16,000 in cash, was seized.

Both men have since been released on conditional bail while further enquiries continue.

As always, we encourage residents to continue reporting information and concerns to us. Information from our communities is invaluable in helping us understand where problems are occurring and take appropriate action.

We will continue to work alongside our communities, local partners and businesses to help keep Melksham and the surrounding villages safe and enjoyable places to live, work and visit.

Please be aware we are currently attending a serious collision on the A350 just north of Beanacre.

We have put a full closure in place between Leekes Roundabout and Lackham Roundabout near Chippenham.

The road is likely to be closed for the foreseeable future.

Last week, officers from our Specials Roads Policing Unit carried out a proactive operation across Trowbridge, Melksham and Bradford on Avon, targeting road crime and the so-called Fatal Five offences that are most likely to contribute to serious collisions.

The operation achieved a number of positive outcomes, including:

✅ 1 stolen vehicle recovered
✅ 4 vehicles seized for offences including no insurance, disqualified driving, dangerous vehicle defects and tax offences
✅ 4 mobile phone offences detected
✅ 1 seatbelt offence detected
✅ 2 speeding offences identified in North Bradley
✅ 1 careless driving offence reported
✅ 2 illegally used vehicle-related items seized
✅ 1 road traffic collision attended (non-injury)
✅ 1 arrest of an out-of-force murder suspect

These results highlight the important role our Special Constables play in keeping communities safe, tackling criminality on our roads, and taking action against those who put other road users at risk.

You may have met Alaina at fetes and events with her old wooden fingerprint table. She volunteers, taking fingerprints or as a bookmark for children with their fingerprint on it.

More than 20 years of service, countless lives touched. 💙

Congratulations to Alaina Coles, who has been recognised with a Long Service Award at this year's Wiltshire Police Force Awards.

Since joining Wiltshire Police in 2005, Alaina has dedicated her career to helping others, serving in a variety of roles and supporting both colleagues and the public with professionalism, compassion and determination.

From helping modernise investigative practices and supporting complex investigations to playing a key role in establishing our Custody Coordinator team, Alaina's contribution to policing in Wiltshire has been immense.

One of her most memorable moments came while volunteering at an Emergency Services Show, when she was asked to take the fingerprints of a baby girl with a short life expectancy.

Alaina said: "It reminded me that what might seem like a small part of your job can mean everything to someone else. It's a moment I'll never forget."

Alongside her operational work, Alaina has also been a passionate advocate for colleagues' wellbeing as a UNISON representative.

Thank you, Alaina, for your kindness, dedication and outstanding service to Wiltshire Police and our communities.

👮 🚓 Over the weekend, we have attended Melksham Food and River Festival!

We have loved speaking to members of the public about local issues, handing out colouring, taking fingerprints, showing the back of the police van and occasionally the blue lights! Thank you to everyone who came to engage.

We can't forget to also thank our police cadets who came to help out on Saturday.
