This week, weβre celebrating one of the UKβs most iconic and much-loved native species β the red squirrel!
Our red squirrels here at Pili Palas are part of a breeding programme supporting red squirrel conservation in the UK. By taking part in this important work, we hope to help protect the future of this special species. πΏπΏοΈ
β€οΈ Why are red squirrels important on Anglesey?
Being an island, Anglesey has provided red squirrels with a natural refuge from some of the threats they face elsewhere in the UK. This has helped the islandβs red squirrel population to thrive, making Anglesey an especially important stronghold for this beautiful native species. π³πΏοΈ
So next time you spot a red squirrel, remember β youβre looking at a little piece of Angleseyβs natural heritage! πΏοΈπ³
