Meet Glennie's Childminding Service a childminder from Aberdyfi who's spent 26 years building bridges between children and their wider community. From organising charity walks that raised over £1,400 to outdoor adventures in local woods and beaches, she's created opportunities for children to flourish.

The results? Children who were initially quiet have gained independence, built lasting friendships and embraced new experiences with pride.

We've just published our new Communication and Engagement Strategy for 2026-2030.

The strategy sets out how Care Inspectorate Wales will maintain and improve the way we are visible, accessible, and engaged with the people and communities we serve, including those who use care services, their families, and the providers who deliver care across Wales.

We want people to know what we do, how we can help, and how their voices shape our work.

This strategy is our commitment to making that happen.

We have published our assurance check findings for Wrexham County Borough Council's adult social care services, following our inspection carried out between 27 April and 1 May 2026.

We found committed leadership and a genuinely person-centred culture, with practitioners demonstrating care and respect for the people they support. Preventative services have developed well, with reduced waiting times in some areas, and safeguarding arrangements are largely robust with effective multi-agency working.

However, people's experiences are not yet consistent enough. Among the areas we identified for improvement are delays in assessment and access to support, and the consistency of communication with people about their care.

We have published our assurance check findings for Powys County Council adult services, carried out between 27 and 29 April 2026.

The local authority has committed leadership and a supportive working culture. Key strengths include strong staff wellbeing, good co-production through the Powys Live Well Forum, a preventative ethos, and effective partnership working with the local health board.

While there are clear strengths, we found areas for improvement, including delays in assessments and reviews, and safeguarding practice not yet consistently embedded across the wider service.

We've published the findings from our assurance check of Swansea Council Children's Services.

We found a child-centred service with a lot to be proud of - strong safeguarding practice, genuine commitment to children's participation, and effective partnership working across agencies.

We also identified areas where improvement is needed including placement sufficiency, the timeliness of safeguarding documentation, and record keeping.
