Mickleover Community Walk: Walking for Health A friendly group of walkers meeting around Mickleover every Monday morning. Everyone welcome. The walks are short, free and good for health.

Join Sandra Ward, Mickleover Walk's Leader, and other friendly walkers in a gentle 40 minute walk around Mickleover every week. We meet at the Community Centre at 10.15am every Monday and follow the walk with an (optional) cup of tea in the Community Centre Tea Rooms. These walks are perfect for anyone who is looking to make new friends, get some fresh air and have some gentle exercise. Everyone i

s welcome, regardless of age (though under 16s must be accompanied by an adult) and ability level. The walks are run in accordance with the Derby Walk Well Scheme, which links closely with the Livewell Service, helping people in Derby to lead a healthy lifestyle. Mickleover Community Walk CLOSED to new walkers.

Our walking group has become a victim of its own success in terms of numbers attending. 85 different people have walked with us this year already and this week we had another record with 67 walkers.

This is causing a number of issues, primarily car parking and finding venues who can cater for the large number of teas/coffees etc.

We have considered having two walks but this would not be feasible because venues do not open earlier and they do not want us to return at their busy lunch times.

Accordingly we have now had to take the step of closing the group to new walkers as we have reached saturation point. We are really sorry because we love encouraging people to live a healthier lifestyle. However there are many other Ramblers Wellbeing walks in Derby - see https://www.ramblers.org.uk and search for Derby.

We will reassess the situation later in the year.
