We believe that communities thrive when people have the support, opportunities and resources they need to live well.

Thatโ€™s why we work alongside communities and partner organisations across the Tees Valley - helping people, places and the planet to flourish together. ๐Ÿ’š

Weโ€™ve evolved. And our work has evolved with us.

From health and wellbeing to tackling poverty, supporting communities across the Tees Valley and protecting our planet - we do more and we go further than our name once suggested. ๐Ÿ’š

Itโ€™s time for our identity to reflect who we are today and in the future... ๐Ÿ‘€

We are changing!

A new chapter is taking shape - with the same commitment to people, place and planet.

And with the same passion for the communities we are so proud to be part of.

After more than 30 years as Middlesbrough Environment City, weโ€™re entering a new chapter.

Our name is changing. But our purpose, our mission, our vision and our values remain exactly the same. ๐Ÿ’š

A big thank you to the brilliant volunteers from Refugee Futures who joined us earlier this week to help transform our allotment sites. ๐Ÿ’š

There was plenty to get stuck into โ€“ putting the finishing touches to our polytunnels, woodchipping floors and filling raised beds with topsoil and compost ready for planting. ๐ŸŒฑ

Thank you for helping us get the site ready for another season of growing, learning and connecting. ๐ŸŒฟ

The news today that energy bills are set to rise again this autumn will come as a big concern for many of us.

The latest Ofgem price cap announcement means typical household energy bills will rise by around ยฃ60 a year from October, taking the annual bill to ยฃ1,723.

For households already feeling the squeeze, another increase in energy costs could be worrying โ€“ particularly as we head towards the colder months.

Now is a good time to check your energy situation and make sure youโ€™re getting all the support youโ€™re entitled to.

A few things you can do:
๐Ÿ’ก Check your current tariff and understand what youโ€™ll be paying from October
๐Ÿ“‹ Find out whether you could be eligible for grants, discounts or other support
๐Ÿ“ž Contact your energy supplier as early as possible if youโ€™re worried about paying your bills
๐Ÿ  Look at ways to make your home more energy efficient
๐Ÿค Get advice if youโ€™re struggling โ€“ you donโ€™t have to wait until youโ€™re in crisis

Our Affordable Warmth Team is here to help. They provide free, impartial energy advice to people who are struggling with energy costs or worried about keeping their home warm. We can help with bills, energy-saving advice and information about grants and support schemes you may be able to access.๐Ÿ’š

Something exciting is on the wayโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘€

Thereโ€™s been a lot happening behind the scenes here at MEC over the past few months โ€“ from workshops and staff surveys to filming, photo shoots and plenty of big ideas! โœจ

Weโ€™ve been working hard on something that represents who we are, what we do and where weโ€™re going next. ๐Ÿš€

Itโ€™s about our people, our communities, our planet and our ambition for a thriving Tees Valley. ๐Ÿ’š

Itโ€™s about the passion we put into every project, the wraparound support we always provide, the amazing relationships we build and the extra mile we go for the communities we serve. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ

Weโ€™re nearly ready to share it with you. But for now, hereโ€™s a little sneak peek behind the scenes. ๐Ÿ“ธ

A new chapter is coming. Watch this space! ๐Ÿ‘€
