Did you know that on the day the Council Chamber was first used, 9th August 1887, the then Mayor Amos Hinton presented a clock to the council. Over the years it has had to be repaired and used to be wound once a week to keep time, now it has been fitted with a modern clock mechanism and is still going strong.
