The AWAAZ Project, which means Voice, is a Community Interest Company which supports and advises victims of forced marriage, honour based abuse, female ge***al mutilation. In 2011 Soraya Azam set up the project to support victims and raise awareness of these issues. AWAAZ supports men & women. AWAAZ project is based in Middlesbrough. It was set up as it was identified that there was no support for victims or advice for agencies on these complex issues. Victims will also work with all agencies, and the Black Minority Ethnic Community to provide high quality training making agencies aware of the issues victims may face, and how they may be able to spot the signs and help.
