Hi, we’re screening the documentary Finding the Money in Middlesbrough on Saturday 18 October as part of a project called Where Credit’s Due: Making Money for Ecosocial Justice: https://wherecreditsdueboro.wordpress.com/events.
I’m hoping this will be of interest to members of the People’s Assembly Against Austerity - our screening event (and entire project) is designed to show that the stories we currently tell about money are based on logics of scarcity and exclusion (in other words, logics of austerity) but that better stories are possible!

Saturday 18 October 2025, 1.30pm-4.30pm, Constantine Building (Borough Road Entrance), Teesside University, Middlesbrough. Where Credit’s Due: Finding the Money – Film Screening and Q&a…

Wheel to Gaza
Shaho (Sha) Qadir is a 50 year old Kurdish man and double amputee. He is riding his wheelchair from Glasgow to Gaza in support of the Palestinian cause starting in September and anticipating a journey of some 7 months. His journey takes him via Middlesbrough. He will arrive in Middlesbrough late afternoon Wednesday 8 October in central square adjacent MIMA. He will stay overnight and depart from MIMA Thursday morning 9 October.
It would be great if as many friends, comrades and colleagues could assemble to welcome him on Wednesday and say farewell on Thursday. Please free to accompany Sha on his onward journey by turning up on your pushbikes!
Obviously bring flags, banners and pots and pans!
Actual timing is subject to further clarification. It would be helpful if those coming could confirm to Ian Jeffrey: [email protected] tel 07801 296 472 – or any other questions or comments you may have.
Lets hope for a great turnout!

There's been a Grinch out in today, the week before Christmas...

We spoke to people about how Jeremy Hunt, Rishi Sunak and the Tories are trying to ruin Christmas with another wave of , while the rich get richer.

Supportive reaction to our stall in today. In a town with 50% child poverty, people are fed up of a government of the rich and by the rich, that's throwing ordinary people under the bus.

A message from Mick Lynch, General Secretary of National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) calling on all Trade Unionists, Activists & Campaigners to get out on the streets on Nov 5 for The People's Assembly National Demonstration:

"We need to kick the Tories Out & fight for a change in this country"
