Real change rarely happens because one person or one organisation has all the answers.

The challenges people face in their communities are often complex, and they need more than quick fixes. They need people who are willing to listen, share ideas, pool resources, and work together with those who understand the issues first-hand.

That is the power of collaboration.

When community groups, charities, professionals, businesses, volunteers, and local people come together, we see the bigger picture. We learn from one another. We reach people we may never have reached alone. And most importantly, we can create solutions that are practical, relevant, and built to last.

The strongest solutions are not simply created for communities. They are created with them.

Collaboration means recognising that everyone brings something valuable to the table — lived experience, knowledge, relationships, skills, resources, or simply the willingness to help.

When we stop working in isolation and start working together, we do more than solve problems. We build trust, strengthen communities, and create change that can continue long after a project or programme ends.

There is so much more we can achieve when we choose partnership over competition.

Stronger relationships. Shared responsibility. Sustainable change.

Persistent symptoms deserve attention.
If you’ve returned to your GP several times with the same symptoms and things are not improving, Jess’s Rule encourages clinicians to pause, review and rethink what may be happening.
You are not wasting anyone’s time by going back when something still feels wrong.
Know your symptoms. Ask questions. Speak up.

Sometimes strength is not about carrying everything quietly.

strength is saying, “I need support.”

We believe community should be a place where women can speak openly, ask questions, find useful information and know there is someone willing to listen.

You may need encouragement. You may need signposting. You may simply need to be reminded that you do not have to work everything out on your own.

There is courage in reaching out, and there is strength in allowing others to walk alongside you.

Reach out. Speak up. Stay connected.
There is strength in community.

Moments from IWD 26 GIVE TO GAIN

What a beautiful reminder that when women come together to share, encourage, connect and pour into one another, everyone leaves with something valuable.

For us, Give to Gain was about more than an event. It was about community, generosity, conversation, learning and creating space for women to feel seen, supported and celebrated.

We are grateful to every woman who showed up, contributed, connected and helped make the day so special.

Here’s a little flashback to some of the moments we shared.

A little flashback to our IWD 2024 celebrations — a beautiful reminder of what happens when women come together, share space, celebrate one another and recognise the power in their collective voices.

For us at Women Today, International Women’s Day is never just one day on the calendar. It is part of the work we continue all year round: creating opportunities for women to connect, grow in confidence, access support and feel seen within their community.

Looking back reminds us how far we have come — and why we must keep going.

Here’s to more conversations, more connection, more courage and more women discovering their Power to Change.

We are incredibly proud to share some exciting news — Women Today has been nominated for the Outstanding Community Organization of the Year Award!

This recognition means so much because it reflects the heart of what we do every day: creating spaces where women feel heard, supported, connected and empowered to move forward.

We are also proud to celebrate the leadership of our Director, Locardia Chidanyika, whose commitment to community, service and uplifting women continues to shape the work of Women Today.

But this nomination belongs to all of us — our women, volunteers, partners, supporters and everyone who believes in the power of community.

Now we need your support.

Please vote for Women Today and help us bring this award home.
