Edgar Wood Society Preserving and promoting the heritage of architect and designer Edgar Wood

Our mission is to help promote and preserve the heritage of architect and designer Edgar Wood in Middleton and the surrounding area, and in particular the Arts & Crafts Church. The Society was formed in 2011 as The Friends of the Edgar Wood Centre (Long Street Methodist Church & School) following the purchase of the property by the Heritage Trust for the North West.

Happy Edgar Wood Day!

Today marks Edgar Wood's birthday. The fantastic architect was born on 17th May 1860.

At 1pm today we have a guided walk to local Edgar Wood buildings in Middleton. We start from Long Street Methodist Church and it will take around an hour. The church is open today 1pm-4pm and you can see the David Robinson exhibition.

It was great to have a visit today from John at Manchester Taxi Tours!

We are back open tomorrow 11am-4pm
Then last day on Sunday 1pm-4pm. We have a guided tour from 1pm from the church to local Edgar Wood buildings.

Sunday 17th also marks Edgar Wood's birthday.

We are back open today 1pm-4pm at Edgar Wood's Long Street Methodist Church in Middleton. Come and see our David Robinson exhibition and have a brew. We are open daily this week Monday-Friday 1pm - 4pm, then this Saturday 11am-4pm. Last day is Sunday 17th May 1pm-4pm. This is Edgar Wood's birthday and we have a guided walk ftom the church at 1pm, with cake on our return!

Tomorrow we launch the exhibition of paintings and prints by David Robinson.

David studied graphic design at Rochdale College before becoming involved in the printing industry in the North West. He later moved to London to work on corporate branding and book design. David's works are inspired by the natural landscape and visits to places like the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.

Come and have a look at the artwork and wander around the church, an Edgar Wood masterpiece!

The exhibition starts on Saturday 9th May (with the Mayor planned to attend) and continues everyday until Sunday 17th May.

Saturday's 11am-4pm.
Other days 1pm-4pm.

Long Street Methodist Church, Long Street, Middleton.

David will be creating artwork during the exhibition so please say "hello" if you see him during your visit.

On Sunday 17th May we celebrate Edgar Wood's birthday with a guided walk to local Edgar Wood buildings. Starts at 1pm from the church. We should also have some refreshments for your return to the church after the walk!

Hi folks, as we roll into the birth month of Edgar Wood we would like to invite you to our new exhibition featuring the work of artist, David Robinson.
