Babies and young children are more likely to become unwell from hot weather, and
they are particularly at risk of sunburn.
• To protect them, the NHS recommends that babies under 6 months should be kept
out of direct sunlight, kept in the shade between 11am and 3pm, and wear at least
SPF30 suncream.
• Small, closed spaces such as stationary cars can get dangerously hot very quickly.
Make sure that babies, children, older people and pets are not left alone in stationary
cars or other closed spaces.
• Keep children in prams or pushchairs shaded using a parasol. Make sure there is
adequate air flow, remove any clothing they don’t need and check on them regularly
to make sure they don’t overheat.

“Older people don’t face sexual abuse… right?” Unfortunately, they do — and it's a topic many shy away from. Age doesn’t shield anyone from sexual violence. In fact, it can make it even harder to speak up.

If you or someone you know is being abused call our 24/7 Helpline 0808 808 8141

🚨 We’ve made 1,212 arrests in Crewe & Nantwich so far in 2025…

Over 43% of these arrests were connected to domestic-related offences.

Domestic abuse isn’t always physical. It can be emotional, psychological, financial, or coercive control — and it happens in every community.

If you have concerns about your partner — or someone else’s — you can use the Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme (Clare’s Law) to find out if they have a history of abusive behaviour. It’s confidential and could save a life.

Speak up. We will listen. We will act. 💙

We are holding quarterly coffee mornings for retired and former Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service staff. If you have served in Cheshire either as a firefighter or in a non-operational role then please come down to the station for a drink and bite to eat. You can take the opportunity to catch up with old friends and former colleagues, hear from senior officers on the latest developments within the Service and meet the crews and staff on station.

Please join us at Chester Fire Station for our first coffee morning on Thursday 26 June in the Community Room from 10am until 12pm.

Book to your place here - https://orlo.uk/zzyRr, and ensure to include any dietary and/or access requirements we need to be aware of. We have limited places available, and so it is vital you book prior to the date.
