In the event of an emergency ALWAYS call 999. Our Statutory Duties

The responsibilities and duties of the fire and rescue services in England and Wales are principally governed by the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004. This Act requires all fire authorities to make provision for fire fighting purposes, which not only means putting out fires but also includes protecting life and property from fir

e. It also makes provision for attending road traffic collisions and other emergencies as well as providing a statutory footing for undertaking community safety activities. Additionally, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires all fire authorities to enforce fire safety standards in a variety of commercial premises such as offices, shops, schools, factories, hospitals etc. Responsibility for the three fire and rescue services in Wales was devolved to the Welsh Government in 2004. In accordance with the transfer of responsibilities the Welsh Government regulary produces a National Framework which sets out priorities and objectives for fire and rescue in Wales. In accordance with these framework documents each fire and rescue service must then produce a risk reduction plan. Risk Reduction Plans focus on community and corporate risks in a holistic way and are a blueprint for how the services then manage risk within their respective area. A key objectives of the Risk Reduction Plans is to link to the Government's commitment to reduce deaths and injuries resulting from fire and road traffic collisions.

This has been shared on the Love Llandovery page and came from a firefighter involved in the recent wildfires there.

Many stations from across our service have been involved in the fires at Llandovery and many other areas.

Most stations who attend these incidents are from the Oncall compliment of the service who have their day jobs and loved ones already filling their days. Yet at the drop of the alerter they run to the aid of others.

The shared post is a big thank you to those who are the backbone of the oncall crews.

From us as fire crews at Milford Haven, we would also like to say a big thank you to all those loved ones who support us daily and the employers who let us run to those in need. Every plan changes at the drop of a hat, or in this case, the drop of the alerter.

Thank you so very much ❤️❤️

An interesting drill night for our on call crew as 32P2 was sent to standby duties at Swansea Central fire station, before being mobilised soon after to the ongoing grass fire between Llangynidr and Ebbw Vale.

Our bowser, 32W1 was also strategically moved up to Carmarthen to support the ongoing efforts across Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub CGC / MAWW Fire and Rescue

Special mention to our fire control, all crews, partner agencies and farmers working tremendously hard to get these incidents resolved.
