UPDATE: Counter Terrorism Police have provided an update following the arrest of a man near Plymouth.
A 45-year-old from Torpoint was arrested at a property on Tuesday, June 2 on “suspicion of possessing articles which may be of use to a terrorist.”
Counter Terrorism Policing South East and South East Regional Organised Crime Unit confirmed that the man has been released on police bail pending further investigation.
Millbrook Parish Council are aware of concerns over the increased presence . The Parish Council has spoken with the Police and been in contact with Kate Ewert - Cornwall Councillor. Please see the message below we have just been sent.
Local Commander Chief Superintendent Scott Bradley said:
“I understand that the increased police activity has caused concern amongst residents, but we would like to remind the local community that there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public.
“We continue with local searches in the area as part of the ongoing investigation and are carrying out patrols locally – if you would like to speak to someone, please feel free to approach our officers, who will be happy to help.
“Alternatively, anyone who sees or hears something that could be terrorist-related can phone the police in confidence on 0800 789 321 or 999 in an emergency.”
