Derngate House, our Northampton project, recently hosted a pilot knife crime awareness event, bringing young people and community partners together to discuss prevention, safety, and what to do in an emergency.

Rob White Mentoring Services delivered the session, with St John Ambulance Young Responders providing practical bleed control training and an interactive VR experience.

We were also pleased to welcome Health Lottery, who joined us to support the event and engage with the community.

A huge thank you to everyone involved, and to Rob White for generously providing lunch for the day.

Giving young people practical knowledge, confidence, and potentially lifesaving skills is an important step towards building safer communities.

We’re proud to announce a new partnership with Xscape Milton Keynes.

Together, we’ll work to boost employment opportunities for young people across Milton Keynes, helping them build confidence, develop valuable skills, and access opportunities that support their journey into work.

To kickstart the partnership, Xscape has donated £2,000 to YMCA South Midlands, as well as providing space within the centre to help us raise additional funds and further develop our work with young people.

This partnership is built on a shared ambition to help more young people access the opportunities they need to build brighter, more independent futures.

Keep an eye on our channels as we share what’s coming next and how you can get involved.

Getting people off the streets this winter matters, but what happens after?

YMCA South Midlands welcomes the Government’s £442 million investment to help people sleeping rough access accommodation this winter.

But lasting change requires more than a roof. We need secure, affordable housing alongside mental health support, employment opportunities and early intervention, with the specific housing needs of young people recognised and addressed.

Read our full response on why we believe long-term solutions must go beyond rough sleeping.

We're excited to announce that our youth club at YMCA South Midlands will be partnering with Whitehouse Community Council to create more opportunities for young people in our community.

As the new academic year begins, we will continue to run our Whitehouse Youth Club. Welcoming more young people to a place where they feel safe, accepted, and heard, while building confidence, friendships, and the skills they need to thrive.

But don't just take our word for it; the video shows what our young people had to say.
