New Portrait of a Pond Workshop! 🦎
Join Juneau Projects for a fun, free clay-modelling workshop!

They want your help to make clay pond wildlife sculptures that will be cast in bronze and permanently installed as part of the brand-new public artwork at the pond on the corner of Shenley Road and Burchard Crescent.

✨ Event Details: 📍 Where: Shenley Church End Parish Council 🗓️ When: 27 October, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM 🎟️ Cost: FREE (all materials provided)

This workshop is family-friendly and open to all (recommended for ages 8+, though younger creators are welcome alongside a parent or guardian).
Clay can get messy, so pop on an old shirt or apron! They’ll be keeping your main sculpture to cast in bronze, but you can craft a second air-drying piece to take home and paint if time allows.

📢 Community Screening: The People’s Emergency Briefing

Loughton & Great Holm Parish Council are holding a screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing at Denbigh School in Shenley Church End.

This 45-minute film explores climate and nature, and what they mean for everyday life in the UK, including extreme weather, food security, health, cost of living and nature loss.

The screening will be followed by an open discussion about what this means for our community and what we can do locally.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Spaces are limited, so please book early.
Everyone is welcome — bring a friend, neighbour or family member.

Looking for a calm, welcoming space to try mindfulness or meditation?

The Samatha Meditation Centre in Milton Keynes offers weekly classes and a 10-week introductory course for beginners. Sessions are available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, plus a Wednesday lunchtime class.

The 10-week introductory course starts on Wednesday 14 October at 7.00pm. Classes are free of charge, but donations towards running costs are welcome.

People across Milton Keynes and the surrounding region are being invited to share their creativity and perspectives through a new writing competition exploring what it takes to create a world, city or home where women and girls live in safety.

The competition launches, 1 September 2026, and invites original poetry and prose responding to the theme:
“It takes all of us to make a (world / city / home) where women and girls live in safety.”

The competition is open to four age groups:11–13, 14–17, 18–25 and 26+.

People are eligible to enter if they live, work or study in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas of Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire or Northamptonshire.

Sixteen winners will be selected, with four winners in each age category. Each category winner will receive a £30 centre:mk voucher.

Deadline for entries: Wednesday 7 October 2026.

Omnibus is a series of workshops offering residents of New Bradwell, Stantonbury, Campbell Park Community and Shenley Church End Parish Councils the opportunity to gain new skills and visit arts organisations in the city. These are free if you live within one of the aforementioned areas or charged at a subsidised rate if you live in wider Milton Keynes! You can attend the workshops in any of the areas not just the ones local to you.
