🌊 Shared on behalf of Active Lifestyles Stroud District 🌊

We’re proud to support the launch of the Safer Swim Campaign, raising awareness of essential water‑safety messages across our district — especially around canals, lakes, quarries, and other open‑water spots where risks are often underestimated.

As the weather warms up, please take a moment to remind friends, family, and young people about the importance of staying safe around water. The campaign highlights:

Avoiding Unsupervised Swimming — Open water can be colder, deeper, and more unpredictable than it looks.

Recognising Hidden Dangers — Currents, weeds, sudden drop‑offs, and unseen debris can all pose serious risks.

Following the RLSS UK Water Safety Code — Simple steps that save lives.

The Water Safety Code reminds everyone to:

“Stop & Think” — Assess the risks before going near water.

“Stay Together” — Never swim alone; look out for each other.

“In an emergency, call 999”

“Float” — If you fall in, fight the instinct to swim; lie back and float to regain control.

Please share these messages and help keep our community safe.
Posters are included below — feel free to download and share.

We are aware of an overflowing bin at The Horsfall Playground on Common Road. We have reported the issue to Stroud District Council who are responsible for emptying litter bins. In the meantime please can we ask that, where possible, you take your rubbish home with you to minimise additional waste. Your co-operation is much appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at Minchinhampton Market House for our Annual Parish Meeting. We were pleased to welcome around 40 members of the community.

For those who were unable to attend, the Chair's Report presented by Cllr Nick Hurst is linked below for you to read.

We also enjoyed informative and engaging presentations from several fantastic local organisations, including Minch Life, Minchinhampton Youth Club, Minchinhampton Rangers Football Club, and Horsfall House.

Congratulations to our two very deserving award winners:

🏆 Tim Dowds (pictured), recipient of the Jim Gregory Cup 2026, in recognition of his work with Minchinhampton Rangers Youth Football Club

🏆 Rosie Bruce, the first-ever recipient of the Annual Youth Award 2026, for her contributions to supporting Minchinhampton Youth Club

Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit nominations and to all who continue to make our community such a vibrant and supportive place.
