Please join us at the Burma Star Memorial, Blenheim Gardens, for Minehead's VJ Day Commemoration Service.

Together, we will remember those who served in the Far East during the Second World War and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many in pursuit of peace.

All are welcome.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in last week's challenge! 👏
The answer was one of the beautiful tall trees at the top of West Street 🌲. Local legend even has it that the area was once an ancient burial site, adding a little mystery to one of Minehead's most striking spots!

Tomorrow (15 August), Minehead will mark VJ Day with a commemorative service at the Burma Star Memorial in Blenheim Gardens.

This annual act of remembrance provides an opportunity to reflect on the courage, service and sacrifice of those who served in the Far East during the Second World War and to honour those who never returned.

The service will begin at 10:45am and all are welcome to attend.

🌳 We are all set up at Ellicombe Open Spaces, here today between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. with the National Trust as we talk about our plans for the site ahead of September's Tree Planting and Apple Celebrations Day. 🍎

Come and share your thoughts, ask questions and find out what's coming up.

And if that's not enough of a draw, you'll have the chance to see something many believed to be a myth: the Town Clerk outside the office. Rumours that he was permanently fused to a desk have clearly been exaggerated. Sightings are rare, photographs may be blurry and the creature should not be approached too quickly. 😂📸

A reminder to Minehead Middle School students and their families that a range of summer activities are available as part of a programme supported by Minehead Town Council and the SALC - Community Health & Wellbeing fund.

Created following the tragic events that impacted the school community last summer, the programme aims to provide positive experiences, friendship and wellbeing support for pupils.

Minehead Town Council is delighted to be partnering with the National Trust on an exciting new nature project for Ellicombe Open Space.

💚 Join us tomorrow, Thursday 13 August from 1pm to 3pm, for our Community Conversation and be among the first to hear about the plans, share your ideas, and help shape the future of this special green space.

🍎 Then save the date for Saturday 26 September, when we'll be celebrating with tree planting, apple tasting and juicing, forest school activities, and plenty of family-friendly nature fun.

Together, we can grow something amazing for Minehead's community and wildlife.
