Transport for Wales, working with local authorities across North Wales, is developing proposals for a new bus network as part of preparations for bus reform and they want to hear from you.

☀️ SUMMER IN MOLD – A LOOK BACK AT WHAT WE’VE SUPPORTED ☀️

As we come towards the end of the summer holidays, we wanted to take a moment to look back at some of the activities, events and community initiatives Mold Town Council has delivered, supported and helped make possible this summer.

It has certainly been a busy few months, with lots happening across the town!

🎨 Summer Playschemes
We have provided financial support for local summer playschemes, helping children to get outside, take part in activities, make friends and enjoy opportunities to play throughout the school holidays.

📚⚽ Fit, Fed and Read
Mold Town Council has also provided financial support towards the Fit, Fed and Read programme, helping children and young people to access activities, food and reading opportunities during the summer holidays.

🌳 Friends of Maes Bodlonfa & Kendricks Field
This summer has also seen Mold Town Council working to establish the Friends of Maes Bodlonfa & Kendricks Field, creating a new volunteer group to give local people the opportunity to get directly involved in caring for and improving these much-loved community spaces.

We have held community drop-in sessions to bring interested residents together, hear their ideas and begin developing the group, working in partnership with Flintshire County Council.

It has been fantastic to see local people willing to give their time and enthusiasm, and we look forward to seeing the group develop and supporting our new volunteers as they begin making a difference.

🛍️ The Sunday Gathering Artisan Market
Our monthly Sunday Gathering has continued throughout the summer, bringing independent traders, makers, classic cars and performers into Daniel Owen Square and encouraging residents and visitors to spend time in the town and support local businesses.

🎉 Events in the Heart of Mold
From family activities to larger town events, we have continued to create and support opportunities that bring people together, attract visitors and showcase everything Mold has to offer.

🌸 Planting & Making Mold Look Its Best
Our summer planting and floral displays have once again added colour throughout the town, alongside our ongoing work with partners to improve and look after public spaces.

🏰 Bailey Hill
Bailey Hill has remained an important focus for community activity, heritage and volunteering throughout the summer. Mold Town Council continues to manage and support the Bailey Hill Centre and work alongside our partners to make the most of this special site.

🪑 Improving Local Facilities
We have also been getting stuck into practical improvements, including working in partnership with Flintshire County Council on the refurbishment of the benches at Mold Bus Station.

🤝 Partnership & Community
So much of what happens in Mold is achieved by working together – Town Council staff and Councillors, volunteers, community organisations, local businesses, Flintshire County Council and other partners all playing their part.

💚 A huge thank you to everyone who has volunteered, attended an event, supported a local trader or business, taken part in an activity or helped make things happen in Mold this summer.

📣 HOW TO REPORT A PROBLEM IN MOLD – WHO SHOULD YOU CONTACT?

We regularly see residents raising concerns by commenting on Facebook posts or tagging Mold Town Council.

While we do our best to monitor social media, a Facebook comment or tag is not a formal report and can easily be missed.

If you spot a problem, reporting it directly to the organisation responsible means it can be properly logged, passed to the appropriate team and followed up.

🏛️ WHAT HAPPENS AT A MOLD TOWN COUNCIL MEETING?

Town Council meetings are where your elected Town Councillors come together to discuss local issues, consider proposals and make decisions on matters affecting Mold and its community.

📅 Mold Town Council meets on the last Wednesday of every month, with the exception of August and December.

So, what actually happens at a meeting?

📄 An agenda is published in advance
This sets out the matters that Councillors will be considering and discussing at the meeting.

👥 Public participation
Members of the public are welcome to attend Council meetings and there is an opportunity for public participation at the beginning of the meeting.

🗣️ Councillors discuss the issues
Councillors consider reports, correspondence, recommendations and proposals relating to local services, projects, finances and issues affecting the town.

🗳️ Decisions are made
Where a formal decision is required, Councillors vote and the decision of the Council is recorded.

📝 Minutes are produced
Minutes provide the formal record of the meeting and the decisions made. These are subsequently presented to the Council for approval.

🔎 Transparency matters
Agendas and minutes are made available so residents can see the matters being considered by the Council and the decisions being taken on behalf of the community.

Council meetings are an important part of local democracy and residents are always welcome to find out more about the work of their Town Council.

🏛️ WHAT DO YOUR TOWN COUNCILLORS ACTUALLY DO?

We thought it was worth sharing a reminder about the role of your Mold Town Councillors and the work they do on behalf of the community.

Town Councillors are locally elected representatives who give their time to represent residents and help make decisions about Mold.

Their role includes:

👥 Representing the community – listening to residents, businesses and local groups and making sure their views are heard.

🗳️ Making decisions – attending Council and committee meetings and making decisions about local projects, services and how Town Council funds are spent.

🌳 Supporting local services and projects – from community facilities and green spaces to events, markets and local initiatives.

🤝 Working in partnership – with Flintshire County Council, community and voluntary organisations, businesses and other partners.

📣 Promoting and celebrating Mold – supporting events, culture, tourism and the community spirit that makes our town special.

🔭 Planning for the future – considering projects and opportunities that can benefit Mold now and for future generations.

And something that is sometimes misunderstood: Town Councillors are not paid a salary for being a councillor. They are elected representatives who can claim an annual allowance towards costs associated with carrying out their role.
