🚫Road Closure – St Marys Street and Whitecross Street, Monmouth 🚫

Monmouth Town Council have been informed about an order to:
(i) temporarily close a section of St Marys Street, Monmouth, Monmouthshire, ~95m from its junction with Almshouse Street for ~100m.
(ii) temporarily suspend the one-way system on Whitecross Street, Monmouth, Monmouthshire from its junction with A466 Mon Street to its junction with St Marys Street.
(iii) temporarily introduce a two-way system on Whitecross Street, Monmouth, Monmouthshire to allow access/egress.

The order is necessary for Gas works to take place in a safe manner at the location. Reasonable access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected lengths of road during the period of the closure. It is anticipated that the works will be completed on the 2nd September 2026.

A signed diversion route will be in place as follows:- Almshouse Street, A466 St James Street, A466 St James Square, A466 Whitecross Street and vice versa.

🚫Road Closure – Link Road, Monmouth 🚫
Monmouth Town Council have been informed about an order to temporarily close a section of Link Road, Monmouth, Monmouthshire, from its junction with Wonastow Road to its junction with B4293 Portal Road.

The order is necessary for Highway Reconstruction and Resurfacing works to take place in a safe manner at the location. Reasonable access will be maintained for properties fronting the affected lengths of road during the period of the closure. It is anticipated that the works will be completed between 1st September 2026 and 28th September 2026.

A signed diversion route will be in place as follows:- Wonastow Road, B4233 Drybridge Street, B4293 St Thomas Square, B4293 Cinderhill Street, B4293 Portal Road and vice versa.

Monmouth Litter Group meet every month, helping to keep Monmouth tidy.
Everyone is welcome with equipment provided , including little pickers for little hands!

Congratulations to Stephen Lewis who has joined Monmouth Town Council as a Town Councillor for Osbaston Ward as of 10th August 2026.

Councillor Lewis uncontested election means that Monmouth Town Council has returned to a full complement of Town Councillors.

🌿Reminder: Monmouth Weeding - Call for Volunteers🌿

Following the success of recent community weeding sessions, there is another session scheduled on:
Sunday 30th August - meeting at 9 am in front of the Oldway Centre.

If you are free to join a team of Monmouth Town Councillors clearing as many weeds as possible from the town centre and surrounding areas, please come along! Every extra pair of hands makes a difference! If you have them and are able, please bring your own weeding tools, however high vis vests will be provided.
