The shield wall is one of the most iconic Viking battle formations 🛡️

The shield wall, or skjaldborg, was a disciplined formation where warriors locked shields side by side, creating an almost impenetrable defensive line.

Travelling to Heysham Viking Festival 🚍

Parking in the village is limited, so we recommend taking the bus if you can.
🚌 Check the Stagecoach timetable for routes to LA3 2RP - https://cstu.io/063d99
The bus stops right in the village, just steps away from the festival.

🅿️ Our festival car park is at Half Moon Bay (LA3 2LA), managed by our volunteers.
There are no council parking charges during the festival, but there's a suggested £5 donation towards the event.
Disabled parking is available at LA3 2RP.
