Morecambe Town Council

Morecambe Town Council The official page of Morecambe Town Council. Morecambe Town Council was formed in 2009 and represents over 33,000 people across 11 wards.

Follow us for information on our services, events, and how to get involved as we work together with the community to enrich and improve lives in our classic English seaside town. Our 26 elected, voluntary councillors work with a small team of officers to enrich and improve the lives of our residents, working towards a thriving and sustainable future. Our mission is to represent the best interests

of the town and people of Morecambe, enabling members of our community to better influence and participate in local decision making – providing a platform and voice for all. We aim to achieve this by listening and engaging with the local community; upholding values of openness, honesty, integrity, equality, diversity, and inclusion; and providing value for money to taxpayers. We are also committed to reducing our carbon footprint, having declared a Climate Emergency in 2022. We are the first of three tiers of local authority covering the Morecambe area – the others being Lancaster City Council and Lancashire County Council. Each has different areas of responsibility and delivers different services. Our remit currently includes:
Maintaining and enhancing public spaces, making the town greener and cleaner. Overseeing West End and Heysham North allotment site (currently managed by West End and Heysham Allotment Association). Promoting Morecambe as a vibrant and welcoming place to live, work, and visit. Find out more on our website: morecambe.gov.uk

🫡🇬🇧
Today marks the 81st anniversary of VE Day.

As we remember this important occasion, we look back at Morecambe’s VE Day 80 celebrations last year. Events organised by the Town Council included a flag-raising ceremony, veterans’ reception, free brass band concert and a commemorative beacon-lighting on the Stone Jetty, making for a memorable and moving day.

You can view more photos in the gallery on our website:

We thank all those who served and sacrificed.
