It’s been a busy few days for crews here at Moretonhampstead, which started on Friday when we were mobilised to standby duties at Yelverton Fire Station, on our way home we were redirected to gain entry for the ambulance service in Plymouth city centre. Having completed that job they were then sent to Camels Head Fire Station to provide cover whilst they were in attendance at a large grassland fire. Whilst at camels head they got a call to a fire in the open on a recreation ground in the city.
On Sunday we were mobilised to a small fire in the open near hound tor, which turned out to be a large log stack on fire. We worked alongside colleagues from Chagford Fire Station and Buckfastleigh Fire Station to extinguish the fire with help from a neighbouring farmer with his telehandler to move some of the timber.
Yesterday afternoon we were then mobilised to reports of a fire in the open, on arrival it turned out that a car fire had taken place in the road which had spread to neighbouring fields and hedgerows, at its height there were 6 pumping appliances, a water bowser and a number of officers in attendance, crews worked well alongside each other to protect a nearby house and prevent fire spread to any further fields. We would like to thank everybody for their help and patience whilst we were dealing with these incidents your co-operation is greatly appreciated.
