Moretonhampstead Swimming Pool Moretonhampstead Community Swimming Pool is a 25m outdoor pool heated by renewable energy on Dartmoor, Devon. The 2024 season starts on 25th May.

Full timetable on our website. Moretonhampstead Swimming Pool, on the edge of Dartmoor, is open from May through to September and is run by volunteers. Our fabulous 25m outdoor pool is heated by air source heat pumps and solar power, so you can swim comfortably even when the sun is hiding behind the clouds. The pool offers a grassed social area, hot and cold refreshments, and a timetable that offe

rs a daily general swim for all, lane swimming, aqua fit sessions, swimming lessons, technique coaching, and water polo. Each season we try to introduce new opportunities for improving fitness and confidence in the water for all ages. The pool is also available for hire.

Winding down towards the end of the season. Our gazebos have had it. Our Lifeguards & Shopworkers are thinking about packing up for Uni / getting inoculated for their gap year / queuing up for college enrolment / ironing their SDCC sweatshirts but we've got another fortnight of fun to go before we close the doors for the season.

Rainy day Saturday. Do we care? Nah because it’s 27 degrees in the water and our lifeguards are full of happy vibes from Thursday’s carnival. Thank you to organisers and volunteers for an excellent 101st event. We got 3rd prize! Here are our team in all their glory away from the poolside. No 7am lane swim on Friday to allow our staff to gather themselves after the night before. They might consider having a beautiful, meditative yoga session on Friday evening at 6pm to restore their inner balance and wellbeing, with a post-yoga swim.

GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS

Firstly, we want to apologise to all the dogs and their owners who were looking forward to the Doggy Paddle sessions. This season we've decided against running them as we are unsure what damage could be caused to the new liner.

However, the good news is you can leave the pooches at home watching Lassie's Great Adventure and join us for one of two free general swims on the final day. A thank you to our community and beyond from the Trustees and staff for your support this season. So, whether you have been a regular swimmer or not been able to swim as much as you'd like, come along for one last watery hurrah before we close the doors.

The final weekend, the final Dimpsy Swim and back by popular demand are local band The Juliettes providing indie rock and pop classics for your aural pleasure. Come along for a swim or purely to watch the band. Harry V won't be working the shop that evening, unless the rest of the band want him to.

NEXT WEEK AT MORETON POOL

The run up to Moreton Carnival Day continues - lots going on in town raising money for community groups Moretonhampstead Carnival Events

At the pool we have altered our timetable on Thursday, with a shorter Adult General Swim at 12pm. Admissions from the General Swim 1-3pm will be donated to the Carnival fund and the pool will be closing at 3pm prompt. Our Lifeguards and Shopworkers have got fun stuff to do!

No lanes Friday morning. See above. Say no more.

Teens / parents & guardians of teens - on Tuesday, Wellmoor are hosting a pool party for the 14-18 year old age group so do come along for a free swim and food. Win win.
