Wallington is home to a wide variety of wildlife including a number of native species including red squirrels, otters and white-clawed crayfish. The Trevelyans loved being outdoors and close to nature and the House is surrounded by an informal landscape of lawns, lakes, woodland, parkland and farmland, just waiting to be explored. A beautiful walled garden can be found hidden in the east woods, wi

th a stunning Edwardian conservatory. Don't miss:

* Relax, picnic or play in the grassy courtyard
* Look out for woodpeckers and red squirrels at the wildlife hide
* Stretch your legs with a walk along the river or through the countryside
* Let off steam in the adventure playground
* Treat yourself to a spot of lunch or browse the extensive range of gifts in the gift shop

It's time for another ๐ŸŒผ Bench of the Month๐ŸŒผ

Every morning before starting a hard day's work, Head Gardener Simon takes a moment to have a morning coffee on a bench in the gardens at Wallington. This month he recommends the 'storytelling chair' in the Garden of Imagination, further into the Walled Garden. Enjoy flowers, birdsong, and a tiny fairy door!

Where's your favourite place to enjoy the views at Wallington?

Where have the Walled Garden gates gone?

The historic wrought-iron โ€˜Paradiseโ€™ gates that normally stand at the end of the Walled Garden have been temporarily removed while they are being restored by specialist conservators.

Commissioned in the late 1800s by Sir George and Lady Caroline Trevelyan during their travels in Lake Como, these Italianโ€‘crafted gates have quietly stood in Northumberland ever since. After nearly 150 years of weathering the elements, time has taken its toll.

After carefully lifting the gates from their hinges, specialist conservators are following a slow and highly skilled process. The gates will be cleaned, repaired, repainted and then rehung at Wallington, ensuring their survival for future generations.
