WATCH OUT FOR HORSE DRAWN VEHICLES ⚠️

With the Appleby Horse Fair approaching traditional horse-drawn caravans and bow-tops are currently making their way to the annual gathering.

Please remember that horses can be easily spooked by fast or loud vehicles. To keep everyone safe, follow the British Horse Society's advice ️ 🐎

✅ PASS WIDE: Give at least 2 metres of space.
✅ PASS SLOW: Keep your speed under 10mph.
✅ BE PATIENT: Wait for a safe place to overtake and never rev your engine or honk your horn.

Even on a warm day, open water can be dangerously cold 🥶

Cold water shock can affect your breathing and make it difficult to swim and lead to drowning.

It may be tempting to cool off in open water such as rivers, lakes and reservoirs but cold water can kill.

Think before you or your friends enter the water – cold water shock can affect the strongest swimmers.

We love welcoming tourists old and new into the county! When you are visiting please help us to keep Northumberland beautiful by disposing of your litter.

In many areas, there will be litter bins around, if not, you should take it home with you.

We're very luck in Northumberland that Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service are some of the leading experts in tackling wildfires, but that doesn't mean we don't all need to do our bit to protect our beautiful county 💛❤️

Do your bit by👇
🥪 Packing a picnic not a BBQ
❌ Don’t set camp fires - bring another layer if you think you'll get cold
🚮 Taking home all litter - even a piece of glass can start a blaze
✅ Following the Country Code
