Morpeth Clock Tower Bellringers

Morpeth Clock Tower Bellringers We are a group of enthusiastic volunteers who ring the bells in Morpeth Clock Tower. If you are interested in learning the ropes we would love to hear from you.

We are the current custodians of a 300-year-old tradition of bellringing in the English full-circle style in Morpeth Clock Tower. We meet every Wednesday 19:30 - 21:00 to practice and ring to celebrate civic events. Through the ringing of the Clock Tower bells, we aim to promote the culture and heritage of Morpeth. We train people of all ages (9+) and from all walks of life to ring the bells in this ancient tower. Details are available from the Tower Captain, Rev. Simon White.

Happy retirement, Colin. We were very lucky to have you as our tower captain for over twenty years from the 1980s to the 2000s before you went up to Rothbury. In that time you trained many people to ring and brought the local band on leaps and bounds. We are forever grateful.

On Thursday, 6th June 2024, the Clock Tower bells will be 'Ringing out for Peace' at 6.30 pm to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

The 6th of June 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, when Allied forces mounted the largest amphibious invasion the world has ever witnessed. We're looking to recruit new members for our band.

Are you a lapsed bell ringer and fancy trying it out again? We meet on Wednesdays at 7.30 pm. You would be very welcome to join us to see who we are and what is involved.

We also teach people from scratch, so if you fancy giving bellringing a go, please come and see us on a Wednesday evening. It's a superb hobby.
