Neil Martin Kiley, 1944 to 2026

It is with the greatest sadness that we report the death this morning (19 August) of Neil Kiley, a former parish councillor and stalwart of many things Mortimer, at home surrounded by his family.

Neil was a trustee of the Fairground charity, a director of Mortimer Music Live, heavily involved in Transport Through The Ages and, all-round, a lovely man. He was a huge character, with a wealth of stories, often about his great passions - rugby and classic cars - that frequently had those in hearing weeping with laughter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts are with Anne and his family, who have said that they will share funeral details once known.

We will be flying the parish flag on the Fairground at half-mast until Monday in Neil’s memory

🛍️ Mortimer Village Market – Trader Applications Now Open!

The first Mortimer Village Market will take place on Sunday 18 October 2026, from 11.00 am to 2.30 pm at the Fairground Hall, followed by a market on the third Sunday of each month.
We are looking for a varied selection of local traders, makers and independent businesses—and we are particularly keen to hear from local food and produce traders, including bakers, growers and producers of fresh or homemade goods.

If you run a produce stall, or know someone who does, please spread the word!

🥾 New Permitted Path Now Open
Stratfield Mortimer Parish Council wishes to thank Englefield Estate for fulfilling its longstanding commitment to install a permitted path connecting the Tower House Farm public open space with Drury Lane.
The new path is now open, providing another useful and enjoyable walking route for residents. Mortimer Village Partnership’s Walking Group tested it out today and shared these photographs from their walk!
We hope residents enjoy exploring the new route.
