UPDATE : I visited the Holytown Surgery this afternoon to discuss the defibrillator. Staff advised that new pads for it are currently out of stock but, in the meantime, the defibrillator has been taken off the list as being available for use. The defibrillator was used by the Surgery which is why new pads are now required.
Staff will keep me updated on progress and I’m looking forward to this defibrillator being available in the near future.
It was lovely opportunity to meet the Staff this afternoon and to discuss other issues as well.

UPDATE : I’ve been chasing up repair of the tyre See-Saw in the older part of the King George V play park in Mossend this week. NLC has responded to say that parts have been ordered and repair may take a bit of time, but I’ll continue to monitor this closely.

As a local Councillor, I’ve been inundated with concerns about the current roadworks at the location of the Crematorium roundabout in Holytown.
NLC has responded to say that ‘BT is carrying out essential repairs to a damaged chamber on the footway immediately adjacent to the roundabout’.
The Roads Department has further advised that ‘Utility Companies have a statutory right to access as the Council as local roads authority cannot unduly restrict or prevent access where there is no justifiable reason to do so’.

I’m working towards getting better prior notice of forthcoming roadworks in the Mossend & Holytown area but this is proving to be difficult as roadworks are not associated with NLC for the most part.

In response to constituent contact, I have arranged for a pedestrian survey to be undertaken by North Lanarkshire Council in the area of the Cloverfield Estate & Bo’Ness Road in Holytown. This assessment will include a specialised 12 hour camera survey.
Data from the pedestrian and traffic survey, along with the review of injury accidents, will enable NLC to identify whether the provision of a signalised crossing at this location is appropriate.
This Review is expected to conclude at the end of November, and I will keep you updated on progress and outcomes.

Just a wee update - Land & Waste Services at NLC has advised that the overgrown vegetation at the entrance to Keir Hardie Sports Centre in Holytown and at the side of the pathway from Holytown to Eurocentral will be cut back once the grass cutting season finishes near the end of October.
I’ll continue to monitor this.

It was a pleasure as always to catch up with members of the Parent Council of Mossend Primary School earlier this afternoon - great to see Mrs. Tracey McCulloch back in her Head Teacher role at the School which was a lovely surprise. Looking forward to seeing the exciting fundraising plans for events coming to fruition in the coming months.
I always look forward to supporting Parent Councils in the Ward - you’re all doing a great job!
Also, while I was there, I noticed the gate in the park area still hasn’t been fixed properly. I’ll chase this up with NLC.

What an amazing ‘Game Fest’ fundraiser this evening which was hosted by Christ the King Parent Council/Parent Association - Holytown at Christ the King Church Hall in Holytown.
Members, you did a fantastic job as always and it was great to see such a turnout at this event.
You should be so proud of yourselves - I know I am proud to support you! ❤️

I spent a lovely afternoon in Holytown ……..
First stop was my favourite cheesecake shop for a take-out lunch, then a browse around Lorna’s antique shop (couldn’t resist a wee purchase), a visit to the White House Pub to call in on Janice & James and, last but not least, I popped in to support the Keir Hardie Sports Centre Open Day.
All in all, a wonderful day! A day that makes me grateful to be a Councillor ❤️

While I was out helping the Holytown Environmental Group on Wednesday, I noticed that the trees & shrubs along the entrance and pathway alongside Keir Hardie Sports Centre could do with getting cut back.
