Free parking in the run up to Christmas!

🎄🅿️ We’re helping shoppers, visitors and residents with a great offer in the run-up to Christmas!

From 2 November to 3 January, people will be able to get two hours’ free parking at Granby Street and Beehive Lane car parks in Loughborough.

The scheme aims to encourage more people to visit the town centre during the busy festive period and support retailers, the hospitality sector, market traders and other businesses.

Cllr Liz Blackshaw, the Council’s Lead Member for Communities and Neighbourhoods which includes responsibility for car parks, and Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Council’s Lead Member for Economic Development, Regeneration and Town Centres helped launch the scheme this week.

Applications are now open for the Young People Physical Activity & Sport Hardship Fund 2026/27! 📣
Active Together is supporting young people across Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland who face financial barriers to taking part in sport and physical activity.
The Fund can support young people as:
✅ Participants
✅ Coaches
✅ Officials
✅ Volunteers
✅ Talented sportspeople

Funding may be used towards kit and equipment, membership fees, coaching courses, travel costs, competition fees and more.

Young people should be aged between 7-18 years old (or up to 25 with SEND).

All SEND parents are welcome to join us at Christ Church on Wednesday. Children who are currently out of school or on part-time timetables are welcome to come with you.
We meet in our smaller room accessed from the side door of church - signage will point you in the right direction. A hot drink, good biscuits and a listening ear are all available, as well as meeting other SEND parents. As a SEND parent myself, I understand many of the issues you face, it can be a lonely journey and we don't want anyone to be alone in their journey, Alison 🥰

Mountsorrel Beat Team Weekly Update

🚓 What has the Mountsorrel Beat Team been doing this week?

On Monday, the Beat Officer assisted Response officers by returning a missing person safely to their home address after police received information regarding their whereabouts.

Throughout the week, the team has continued to carry out high-visibility patrols across the village, providing reassurance to the community. We have also continued our work to safeguard vulnerable people and support those who may require assistance.

On Thursday evening, the Beat Officer joined a neighbouring beat colleague and officers from Charnwood Borough Council for a joint visit. Partnership working remains an important part of addressing local concerns and supporting our communities. The Beat Officer also carried out a welfare visit to a vulnerable resident within the beat area to ensure their wellbeing and that any support needs were being met.

We will continue to work with our partners, carry out patrols, and respond to concerns raised by the community to help keep Mountsorrel a safe place to live, work and visit.
