♻️New weekly food waste collection service – coming in November for most households in Charnwood!

Due to start week commencing 2 November 2026, the majority of properties will receive a weekly food waste collection.

Those living in properties which share a bin store such as blocks of flats and sheltered accommodation will join the service early next year.

There are NO CHANGES to bin collection days.

The new service will help to cut carbon emissions and produce renewable energy.

It’s all part of the Government’s Simpler Recycling and Councils are legally required to offer the service. It will run alongside your usual household waste and recycling collections.

You don’t need to do anything to get started. We’ll be delivering caddy packs towards the end of September. You will receive:
➡️An indoor kitchen caddy
➡️Supply of caddy liners
➡️An outdoor food waste caddy with a lockable lid
➡️Leaflet with instructions on how to use the service and what can and cannot be recycled

The BBC is cutting £500 million and one in ten jobs, with staff on Newsnight expecting their programme to go.

A TV licence costs £180 a year and carries no vote in how the BBC is run.

The Charter Review should make licence fee payers members, with a real stake and a say.

Books, reading, and libraries give us power, and for many kids (even here in the UK) it all started with Dolly Parton.

Here’s the letter that she sent to children who ‘graduated’ from her Imagination Library, which began operating in the UK in 2008.

By the end of 2024, it had distributed more than 6 million books to children in the UK.

Be more Dolly - Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, for as long as you can.

Rest in peace Dolly, we will always love you.
