Hertfordshire Police are advising businesses and Rural Premises to be aware of a current Scam whereby individuals are claiming to be from Highways or similar.

The individuals are believed to arrive at a property/business, stating they have been carrying out roadworks nearby, and have leftover materials. They then leave the leftover materials containing gravel, stones or road surfacing material on driveways or nearby.
Shortly afterwards, the same individuals demand large sums of money as payment and harass property owners if payment is not received.

Hertfordshire Police and the Rural Team are taking these incidents seriously, and several lines of enquiry are being carried out.

If you receive a suspicious visit or call from someone you believe is not genuine, do not make any payment and end contact immediately.

If the suspects are on your premises and you feel you are in immediate danger, please call 999.

For anything else, capture all evidence such as CCTV, vehicle makes, models, registration numbers and descriptions of offenders and submit a report to Police via 101, webchat, or online, quoting Operation Nimbostratus:

Something exciting is happening at the Recreation Ground, and we want you to be part of it!

Come along to the Much Hadham Annual Village Community Evening on Tuesday 19th May 2026 and have a say on plans that could shape what happens at the Rec. for years to come.

As always, the evening isn’t just about business – it’s about fun, community, and a chance to catch up with neighbours and friends. There will be free wine, beer, soft drinks, and nibbles, plus an opportunity to chat, share ideas, and make your voice heard.

The evening will begin at 7.00pm with refreshments and conversation, followed by 4 short presentations from the stake holders in the Recreation Ground, at about 7.30pm. A free and open discussion will follow and this is your chance to influence the future of the Recreation Ground, meet fellow residents, and enjoy a lively evening with a purpose.

We promise it’ll be more interesting than your average Tuesday night!

We can’t wait to see you there – your ideas, questions, and enthusiasm really matter.

The evening will incorporate the Annual Village Meeting.
