Cuan Wildlife Rescue

Cuan Wildlife Rescue Cuan Wildlife is a wildlife rescue centre where we take in sick, injured or orphaned wild animals and birds, with the aim of nursing them back to health.
(274)

Wildlife rehabilitation and rescue centre based in Shropshire dedicated to treating sick, injured and orphaned wild animals and returning them back to the wild! We regularly admit over 6,000 animals & birds in one year. Once fully recovered, great emphasis is placed on returning them to the wild - in most cases, this means back to the area from where they came, where they may have a mate waiting,

or where, at least, they will be familiar with their territory or hunting ground. Cuan Wildlife rescue is a registered Charity which is dependant on donations from the public and businesses.

PIGEON SQUABS 🩶
We have many pigeon and dove squabs in our care currently, feral pigeons, wood pigeons, and collared doves! 🕊️

Did you know, pigeons bob their heads when they walk to help keep their vision stable. Their funny little head bobs help them see their surroundings much more clearly, which is important when they’re constantly looking for food and watching out for danger! 👀

MANGY FOX! 🧡🦊
This little fox came into us very weak and covered in mange. Mange is caused by tiny mites that burrow into the skin, leading to intense itching, hair loss, sores and thick, crusty skin. If mange becomes severe and is left untreated, constant scratching can cause open wounds and secondary bacterial infections. A badly affected fox can become weak, lose weight and struggle to regulate its body temperature. In very severe cases, infection, exhaustion, starvation and exposure can become life-threatening.

Luckily this one was caught just in time. He was given a couple different treatments and after a few weeks in care he had put on weight, he was much stronger, and his hair was growing back thick and fast! He was later returned back to the wild with the help from The Fox Rescuers!

Would you like to hear some incredible wildlife rescue stories on a relaxing Sunday afternoon, in the beautiful setting of Manor? Come along and join us at our Wildlife Walk & Talk event, where you can walk/wander around the picturesque Poetry Trail at Eaton Manor Country Estate, admiring the countryside and reading poems as you go around all about wildlife and nature - walk as little or as much as your like! If you prefer, you can take part in garden games set up on the lawn area. After the walk (which can take up to an hour - your choice), we will gather indoors to hear some wonderful wildlife rescue stories that our Founder, Megan, has been involved with over the years. We will be serving teas/coffees and have PLENTY of cake! Tickets are £20 per person to include the walk, talk, and refreshments. There will be plenty of time for questions and chatting afterwards! Click on the link below for full details and how to book - we are sure this is going to be a VERY popular event! Thank you to Eaton Manor for kindly donating the venue for this event.

NICE AND FULL! 🧡
This little goldfinch fledgling had just been fed! Did you know, many species of birds have an expandable pouch in their oesophagus called the ingluvies, or more commonly know as a “crop”. This is where birds can temporarily store food quickly in large amounts and then retreat to a safer place to digest their meal. You can see on the picture below the goldfinch’s crop is full as he had just been hand fed and stored the food in it! 🪱

Come and join us for our second attempt at holding a Fun Dog Show this year, here at Cuan Wildlife Rescue! As the weather was too hot in July, we have rearranged for the fabulous Telford Pet Services to run their amazing Fun Dog Show on Saturday 12th September. There are 16 classes to enter - from cutest puppy to best sausage catcher, something for every paw! There will
also be a scurry activity taking place - join in the fun or just enjoy watching. Entry for each class in the Dog Show is just £2.50. As the event is not part of our Open Day this year, the event will run between 10am and 2pm, rather than all day - there will be two show rings running alongside each other, we will do our very best to ensure you can take part in each class you have selected, by organising timings on the day of the event.

There will be a selection of animal related stalls on the day, as well as teas/coffees/cold drinks/cakes and a children's tombola to entertain the youngsters. As there will be no food vendors on site, please feel free to bring along a picnic - our address is Cuan Wildlife Rescue, Stretton Road, Much Wenlock, TF13 6DD.

Entry to the event for all humans will be free of charge - so come along and either join in the fun and take part with your pawsome friends, or just enjoy spectating - we look forward to welcoming you all for a day of doggy fun.

Book your classes for the Dog Show in advance online - if entering 5 or more classes, use the code 15OFF2026 to get a 15% discount! Click on the link below to book (please read the dog welfare guidelines before entering):-

RABBIT KITS! 😴🩷
Recently we have had an influx in rabbit kits come into our care, all requiring regular hand feeding. European rabbit kits develop fast, they are born furless, blind and deaf, at 10 days old their eyes start to they start adventuring out of the burrow they were born in and should be completely on solid foods.

We have many baby animals still in our care. If you are able to help in any way, such as food donations, please see the link below. A share on this post will also help us a lot. Thank you! 🙏🏻

PLEASE READ! 📞
Over the past few months we have noticed a lot of people trying to get hold of us with animals that need urgent help by sending us an email, message, or even commenting on our posts. We are incredibly busy and so we are unable to monitor these constantly. These ways of contacting us are mostly for out of hours or if we need anything sending to us, such as photos or videos.

If you have found a sick, injured or orphaned animal between our opening hours PLEASE always call us on 01952 728070 so the animal can get help as quickly as possible. We are very busy so if we don’t pick up straight away please keep trying. Out of hours please use our email or messenger and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
