Travelling this summer? Don’t forget to check your vaccines.

If you’re planning a trip abroad - whether it’s a holiday in the sun or travelling to support Scotland - it’s important to make sure your vaccinations are up to date. Being protected before you travel can help keep you and others safe and avoid unexpected health issues while you’re away.

For more information and advice, see Public Health Scotland's post below! ☀️

Whether you’re hitting the beach this summer or joining the Tartan Army, it's important to check if you’re up to date on all your vaccines before you travel.

This was sadly expected news but still most unwelcome for us all and a severe risk to the large number of residents already experiencing fuel poverty in our community.

Our wider network, Citizens Advice Scotland agree that things can't carry on like this and are petitioning for robust changes to be made.

While we hope for this to come to fruition, Musselburgh CAB are committed to offering tailored energy advice to residents of East Lothian on an ongoing basis all year round. Like any of the advice we offer it's fully impartial, free and confidential! Our energy advisers are fully qualified and ready to assist.

Check out our website for more information and how to get in touch 💡 🔥 ⚡ 🏡

The quarterly energy price cap will rise by 13% from 1 July 2026.

This will be an increase of around £18 per month for the average household.

This is a cap on energy unit price plus standing charge, not a cap on total bills.

Families with children aged 6-16 might be able to get a bit of extra help through Scottish Child Payment if they receive certain benefits. This regular support can really help with the everyday costs of bringing up children. Many families don’t realise they’re eligible, so it’s worth taking a moment to check, and even small amounts of extra income can make a difference over time. For more information, see the post below.😊

Do you have a child between the ages of six and 16 years’ old? If you get tax credits or certain benefits, you could be eligible for Scottish Child Payment.

It's over £100 every four weeks for each child you look after to help balance the costs of supporting your family.
