On their final day in Krakow, students have visited the Wieliczka Salt Mine to explore the huge underground caverns and cathedrals. Students saw only 1% of the mine, which spans 7 million square meters.

They have had a fantastic time and have represented themselves very well.

As a Beacon School in Holocaust Education, today Y11 students visited Auschwitz I and Auschwitz-Birkenau as part of the History Department trip to Krakow. Students have viewed the primary source materials from the victims, such as cooking pans, shoes, spectacles and human hair. As usual, every student behaved impeccably, and they have represented themselves incredibly well.

Students asked the guides very inquisitive questions, and have learnt lessons from their experience today which will stay with them forever. The most important of these lessons is to have tolerance towards all people, and to have the courage to stand up against prejudice.

On Monday Hardcastle Hawks had their second form assembly, with winners for individual most house points, form with the most points, individual with the highest star score, and form with the highest star score. There was even a spin the wheel for extra rewards, with an extra surprise by two students who have invented the Hardcastle Hawks Handshake! What a lovely start to the school day!

Today our students planned 'Wear it Pink Day' to support Breast Cancer awareness. So on Friday, students are invited to wear something pink alongside their uniform. Some of our Year 11 girls brought this proposal to Mr Taylor a few weeks ago and organised the event! We are so proud of our students and the amazing young adults they are turning into! Go Girls! !
