Open to the public seasonally from the end of April until the beginning of October. Cawdor Castle dates from the late 14th century, having been built as a private fortress by the Thanes of Cawdor, with the ancient medieval tower built around the legendary holly tree – wherever you look, Cawdor Castle is steeped in intrigue and history.

Cawdor Castle and Gardens are now closed to the public until 2027!

Here a few fun facts about our 2026 season for you:

🛳️ We welcomed guests from 72 cruise ships ported at Invergordon
🐕‍🦺 1088 dogs brought their owners for a visit
🍰 5426 scones were freshly made in the Courtyard Café
💍 One engagement (that we know of!) took place in the Gardens

Thank you to our wonderful seasonal staff for making it possible to open to the public and for always being so friendly, professional and welcoming 🧡

The days are getting shorter and our season is coming to an end! There are just a few more days left to visit Cawdor Castle in 2026. Our last day of the season this year is Sunday 4th October, so come along soon and enjoy some splashes of Autumn colour! 🍁🍂

We are still open seven days a week from 10am - 5pm until Sunday 4th October.

With three gardens, an audio guided interior tour, woodland walks, shops, a Café and a 9-hole golf course, there is lots to explore on site.

The HandleBards performance of Macbeth at Cawdor Castle tonight is SOLD OUT!

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee any tickets on the gate tonight. We will monitor any 'no shows' and may be able to sell tickets just before the performance at 6.30pm if you want to come along and take the chance.

If you have tickets for tonight and you can no longer make it, please contact us ASAP on: 01667 404 401 or [email protected] to allow us to free the tickets up for those waiting.

Our next (and final) outdoor theatre performance for 2026 will be The HandleBards with Macbeth on Saturday 15th August. There are just a handful of tickets left, so if you were planning to come along, please make sure you book in advance to avoid disappointment!

Gates open at 5.30pm. The show begins at 6.30pm, and is expected to draw to a close for 8.30pm. Picnics are welcome, but no dogs or umbrellas, please.

A reminder that the gardens, grounds, Big Wood, gift shops and Courtyard Café are all dog-friendly here, so you can enjoy a whole day out with your canine companions.

Here is Gorgeous George enjoying some sunshine at Cawdor Castle this week 🐶 He also sampled our new doggy ice cream supplied by Barke Farm, and he gave it the paws up!

Ahoy, me hearties! Who wants to watch a family-friendly play full of pirates, parrots and sword fights?

Quantum Theatre are returning to Cawdor Castle with the perfect night out for the Summer holidays...Treasure Island! ⚓️

This Saturday (18th July) gates open at 5.30pm with the show beginning at 6.30pm. Bring your chairs, blankets and snacks and settle down to this telling of a classic tale.

Outdoor Theatre at Cawdor Castle is BACK this weekend!

The Three Inch Fools will return on Saturday 4th July with their fresh, fabulous comedy: King Arthur and The Holy Fail. Destiny awaits, chivalry calls, and the quest to end all quests begins. Saddle up - things are about to get legendary...

The gates will open at 5.30pm with the show beginning at 6.30pm. The Courtyard Café will be open for light refreshments. Bring your own chairs, blankets and snacks and enjoy the show!
(Please note that dogs are not permitted at Outdoor Theatre events.)

Have you ever wanted to have dinner in a Castle?

Next weekend we have two very special evenings where you can enjoy an exclusive and unique dinner here alongside the fabulous Downright Gabbler !

Seated by these windows with a beautiful view into the historic Flower Garden, we will be welcoming a limited number of guests on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th June for a three course meal; drinks; homemade shortbread and tailored storytelling exploring the fascinating history of Cawdor Castle and the local area.
