Open to the public seasonally from the end of April until the beginning of October. Cawdor Castle dates from the late 14th century, having been built as a private fortress by the Thanes of Cawdor, with the ancient medieval tower built around the legendary holly tree – wherever you look, Cawdor Castle is steeped in intrigue and history.

A reminder that the gardens, grounds, Big Wood, gift shops and Courtyard Café are all dog-friendly here, so you can enjoy a whole day out with your canine companions.

Here is Gorgeous George enjoying some sunshine at Cawdor Castle this week 🐶 He also sampled our new doggy ice cream supplied by Barke Farm, and he gave it the paws up!

Ahoy, me hearties! Who wants to watch a family-friendly play full of pirates, parrots and sword fights?

Quantum Theatre are returning to Cawdor Castle with the perfect night out for the Summer holidays...Treasure Island! ⚓️

This Saturday (18th July) gates open at 5.30pm with the show beginning at 6.30pm. Bring your chairs, blankets and snacks and settle down to this telling of a classic tale.

Outdoor Theatre at Cawdor Castle is BACK this weekend!

The Three Inch Fools will return on Saturday 4th July with their fresh, fabulous comedy: King Arthur and The Holy Fail. Destiny awaits, chivalry calls, and the quest to end all quests begins. Saddle up - things are about to get legendary...

The gates will open at 5.30pm with the show beginning at 6.30pm. The Courtyard Café will be open for light refreshments. Bring your own chairs, blankets and snacks and enjoy the show!
(Please note that dogs are not permitted at Outdoor Theatre events.)

Have you ever wanted to have dinner in a Castle?

Next weekend we have two very special evenings where you can enjoy an exclusive and unique dinner here alongside the fabulous Downright Gabbler !

Seated by these windows with a beautiful view into the historic Flower Garden, we will be welcoming a limited number of guests on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th June for a three course meal; drinks; homemade shortbread and tailored storytelling exploring the fascinating history of Cawdor Castle and the local area.

A ticket to Cawdor Castle allows you to enjoy a fascinating mix of artefacts, furnishings and sculpture. Many objects in the Castle are hundreds of years old, with contemporary art and recent photographs thoughtfully placed amongst them to create a unique atmosphere.

Tickets can be bought in advance on our website, or upon arrival between 10am and 5pm at the Ticket Kiosk.

We are currently looking for someone to join our Kitchen Team working between the Courtyard Café in the Castle and at Cawdor Tavern.

The shifts are daytime hours with no splits. You would be joining a friendly and experienced team to help deliver a high standard of service to our visitors.

🎉 Competition Time! 🎉

June the 1st is a very special day for Cawdor Castle this year, and marks 50 years since the Castle was first opened to the public by the 6th Earl Cawdor in 1976.

The last 50 years have been spent welcoming visitors from countries across the globe, coming here via train, plane, automobile and cruise ship!

To help us celebrate this Golden Anniversary, we would love for you to share a little something about Cawdor Castle...either a memory from a visit here, a quirky anecdote, a photograph, or the reason that you hope to make the visit one day.

As a thank you, we will select one winner to receive a Seasonal Garden pass for the rest of this season, or a Family Pass for entrance on a day of your choice. Don't worry if you win and are based overseas...we will post out a collection of Cawdor Castle goodies to you as a prize!

The competition will close at 10pm on Monday 15th June with a winner being selected at random the following day. This official Cawdor Castle page will reply to the winning comment and make contact - contact from any other page or party is not legitimate.

Exciting collaboration announcement! 🥳

This year we are partnering with fantastic local business Downright Gabbler for two exclusive evenings of dining and entertainment at Cawdor Castle on the 26th and 27th June. Enjoy storytelling and a three-course meal provided by the Downright Gabbler team, in the setting of the Castle Courtyard Café, with the opportunity to explore the Castle Gardens after hours.

Never ordinarily open to the public in the evenings, this is a rare opportunity to join us for a bespoke event exploring the food and stories of Cawdor Castle and Nairnshire. The evening meal will see guests seated together on banquet style tables of 12, where you will be served three delicious courses in a relaxed atmosphere. There are a limited number of tickets available, so make sure you snap them up soon!
