Mae Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Castell-nedd Port Talbot yn gwahodd trigolion a chynrychiolwyr cymunedau o Gwm Afan Uchaf i wneud cais i ymuno â Bwrdd Cymdogaeth Balchder Bro, er mwyn helpu i lywio dyfodol eu cymunedau.

Daw'r alwad am aelodau Bwrdd yn dilyn penodiad Karen Jones yn Gadeirydd Annibynnol yn ddiweddar, sy'n garreg filltir allweddol yn y gwaith o sefydlu'r arweinyddiaeth leol y bydd ei hangen i gynnal y rhaglen.

Menter fawr gan Lywodraeth y DU yw Rhaglen Balchder Bro, a bydd yn denu gwerth hyd at £20 miliwn o fuddsoddiad i Gwm Afan Uchaf dros y degawd nesaf. Ei nod yw cefnogi gwaith adfywio, atgyfnerthu cymunedau, a grymuso pobl leol i gyflawni rôl ganolog mewn prosesau gwneud penderfyniadau.

Bydd y Bwrdd Cymdogaeth wrth wraidd y gwaith hwn, yn gyfrifol am bennu'r weledigaeth ar gyfer yr ardal a phenderfynu ar y ffordd y caiff cyllid ei fuddsoddi. Caiff y Bwrdd ei arwain gan drigolion, gan ddod â phobl ynghyd sy'n byw neu'n gweithio yn yr ardal er mwyn sicrhau mai'r cymunedau fydd wrth y llyw pan gaiff penderfyniadau eu gwneud.

Dywedodd Karen Jones, Cadeirydd y Bwrdd Cymdogaeth:

“Mae hwn yn gyfle cyffrous i bobl leol gymryd rhan a helpu i lywio dyfodol Cwm Afan Uchaf. Rydyn ni am glywed gan drigolion sy'n frwd dros eu cymunedau ac sy'n awyddus i wneud gwahaniaeth.”

Bydd aelodau'r Bwrdd yn gweithio ochr yn ochr â thrigolion, sefydliadau cymunedol, a phartneriaid yn y sector cyhoeddus i wneud y canlynol:

• Datblygu gweledigaeth 10 mlynedd a rennir ar gyfer yr ardal
• Llunio rhaglen fuddsoddi pedair blynedd
• Goruchwylio'r ffordd y caiff prosiectau lleol eu cyflawni
• Sicrhau bod y rhaglen yn arwain at fuddion ystyrlon a pharhaol

Mae'r Cyngor yn arbennig o awyddus i glywed gan bobl sydd:

• Yn byw neu'n gweithio yng Nghwm Afan Uchaf
• Yn adlewyrchu amrywiaeth y gymuned leol
• Yn meddu ar wybodaeth leol, wedi cael profiad bywyd, neu'n cymryd rhan yn y gymuned

Nid oes angen profiad blaenorol o fod yn aelod o fwrdd, a rhoddir cymorth er mwyn helpu'r aelodau i gymryd rhan yn llawn.

Dywedodd Arweinydd Cyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot, y Cyngh. Steven Hunt:

“Nod Rhaglen Balchder Bro yw sicrhau bod pobl leol wrth wraidd prosesau gwneud penderfyniadau. Mae hwn yn gyfle gwirioneddol i drigolion gael llais uniongyrchol yn y ffordd y bydd y buddsoddiad sylweddol hwn o fudd i'w cymunedau.”

Dywedodd AS Aberafan Maesteg, Stephen Kinnock:

"Mae Balchder Bro yn gyfle go iawn i bobl leol roi siâp ar ddyfodol Blaenau Dyffryn Afan. Rydyn ni eisiau dod â phreswylwyr, busnesau, arweinwyr y gymuned a gwirfoddolwyr ynghyd, a phob un yn teimlo'n angerddol dros yr ardal ac eisiau helpu i wneud gwahaniaeth cadarnhaol.

"Os ydych chi'n becso am ddyfodol Blaenau Dyffryn Afan ac eisiau chwarae rhan yn ei siapio, hoffwn eich annog yn daer i wneud cais i ymuno â'r Bwrdd Cymdogaeth."

I gael rhagor o wybodaeth am y rôl a sut i wneud cais, e-bostiwch [email protected]

Y dyddiad cau ar gyfer datganiadau o ddiddordeb yw dydd Gwener 26 Mehefin am 12pm.

Ariennir y fenter hon gan Lywodraeth y DU drwy Raglen Balchder Bro.

Residents and community representatives from the Upper Afan Valley can now apply to join the Pride in Place (PiPP) Neighbourhood Board, helping to shape the future of their communities.

Neath Port Talbot Council’s call for Board members follows the recent appointment of Karen Jones as Independent Chair, marking a key milestone in establishing the local leadership needed to deliver the programme.

The Pride in Place programme is a major UK Government initiative, bringing up to £20 million of investment to the Upper Afan Valley over the next decade. It aims to support regeneration, strengthen communities, and empower local people to play a central role in decision-making.

The Neighbourhood Board will be at the heart of this work, responsible for setting the vision for the area and agreeing how funding is invested. The Board will be resident-led, bringing together people who live or work in the area to ensure decisions are community-driven.

Karen Jones, Independent Chair of the Neighbourhood Board, said:

“This is an exciting opportunity for local people to get involved and help shape the future of the Upper Afan Valley. We want to hear from residents who are passionate about their communities and keen to make a difference.”

Board members will work alongside residents, community organisations, and public sector partners to:

• Develop a shared 10-year vision for the area
• Shape a four-year investment programme
• Oversee the delivery of local projects
• Ensure the programme delivers meaningful and lasting benefits

The board is particularly keen to hear from people who:

• Live or work in the Upper Afan Valley
• Reflect the diversity of the local community
• Bring local knowledge, lived experience, or community involvement

No previous board experience is required, and support will be provided to help members participate fully.

Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Cllr. Stephen Hunt, said:

“The Pride in Place Programme is about putting local people at the centre of decision-making. This is a real opportunity for residents to have a direct say in how this significant investment benefits their communities.”

Aberafan Maesteg MP, Stephen Kinnock said:

“Pride in Place is a real opportunity for local people to shape the future of the Upper Afan Valley. We want to bring together residents, businesses, community leaders, and volunteers who care passionately about the area and want to help make a positive difference.

“If you care about the future of the Upper Afan Valley and want to play a role in shaping it, I would strongly encourage you to apply to join the Neighbourhood Board.”

Further information on the role and how to apply, please email [email protected]

The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday 26th June at 12pm.

This initiative is funded by the UK Government via the Pride in Place Programme.

It's Carers Week from Monday 8th to Sunday 14th of June.

This year the theme is Building Friendly Communities, so we thought throughout the week we'd shine a spotlight on some of the charities, organisations and community groups that support unpaid carers across Neath Port Talbot.

The Neath Port Talbot Carers Service is a vital lifeline for many unpaid carers living in Neath Port Talbot, they organise trips, coffee mornings and plenty of varied activities!
