We are delighted to announce that our upcoming NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) course is now FULLY BOOKED! 🎉

Every candidate attending a NPLQ course must be 16 years old at the time of taking the final assessment and be able to:

💦 Jump/dive into deep water
💦 Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds
💦 Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water
💦 Tread water for 30 seconds
💦 Surface dive to the floor of the pool
💦 Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits

📢 POOL CLOSURE NOTICE – REGIONAL LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS 🏊‍♂️

Neath Leisure Centre will be hosting the Regional Lifesaving Championships on:

As a result, the following facilities will be closed to the public for the duration of the event:

🥋🏆 Welcome to the Celtic Leisure Elite Athlete Programme, Mitchell Barguss!

We're proud to support local athletes who are achieving success on the national stage, and we're delighted to welcome Mitchell Barguss to our Elite Athlete Programme.

Mitchell's judo journey began over 25 years ago and has close links to Celtic Leisure, having trained with local clubs and coaches across Neath Port Talbot before helping establish a judo club at our Glynneath facility.

After overcoming a serious neck and shoulder injury, alongside personal challenges away from the sport, Mitchell worked his way back into competitive judo through dedication, support from his coaches and teammates, and an unwavering commitment to his goals.

That perseverance paid off when he claimed gold at the Welsh Closed Championships in the Under 66kg category, earning selection to the Welsh Judo Team.

Mitchell is now preparing for the British Championships in October 2026, and we're delighted that Celtic Leisure's facilities will play a part in supporting his training journey over the next 12 months.

Join us in wishing Mitchell the very best of luck as he represents Wales and pursues further success on the national stage.
