Our Pendle King’s Trust department are on the look at for potential community projects within the Pendle area that need some work and support. We want to work with local non-profit organisations that support the local community. The project can be anything from painting and decorating, gardening / landscaping renovations, building projects and restoration.

The project would need to start 5th October – 15th October so consideration for shelter for any outdoor projects would be necessary. It must also support 20 students and be enough work for the duration of the dates.

If you know of any local community groups or nonprofit organisations reach out to the staff to get set up.

How can we help keep Lancashire safer over the next five years?

Our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) sets out our plans for the future. Earlier this year, we asked our communities, partners and employees what matters most to them, and we've used their feedback to develop our draft plan.

As we move into the second phase of our consultation, we'd like to hear your views on the community risks we've identified and how we intend to prevent and respond to them.

Congratulations to Pendle 80 for successfully completing the programme who are now moving into employment, volunteering or awaiting college in September. Now that we have supported another group to move forward we are looking to recruit for Pendle 81.

If you are 16-25 and not in education, training or employment. We have an exciting opportunity for you!

This course is free and designed to support young people into education, training
or employment whilst achieving a nationally recognised qualification, and additional certificates such as food hygiene, health and safety, disability awareness and more.

What’s in it for you?
- A residential trip (4 days, 3 nights) with exciting team-building activities like abseiling and canoeing
- A community project where you’ll help refurbish a local initiative chosen by the team
- A 2-week work placement tailored to your interests

Students from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service King’s Trust Pendle Team 80 are supporting people in their local community by putting on a coffee morning for veteran's in the Pendle area on Wednesday 15th July 10am -12.30pm at Nelson Fire Station. Please do attend the event and support the team to make a difference in their area, have a chat with some local support services and enjoy some refreshments.

Lancashire is set to see yet another heat wave with temperature still to increase.
Our staff have been carrying out Swift Water Rescues drills in best preparedness for what may occur.

With temperatures rising, many people will be spending more time outdoors and visiting Lancashire’s rivers, lakes, canals, reservoirs and other open water sites. While these places can look inviting on a hot day, not all open water is safe.

Between May and August, almost half of all accidental drownings in the UK occur and the risk increases when temperatures rise.

When the average maximum temperature reaches 25°C or above:
• The risk of accidental drowning is five times higher than on cooler days.
• More people enter the water, with over half of those who drowned having been swimming.
If you’re heading near water this summer:
• Choose supervised swimming areas where possible.
• Never enter the water to help someone else, call 999 and encourage them to Float to Live.
• Learn the Float to Live technique: lie on your back, keep your head back with your ears submerged, relax, spread your arms and legs, and control your breathing.

Our teams are out across Lancashire speaking with young people and sharing vital water safety advice to help everyone stay safe this summer.

This course is designed to help young people aged 16-25 build confidence, motivation, and essential skills while working towards a nationally recognised qualification in Teamwork, Employability, and Communication Skills.
