Come along to Newark Library on the 25th of August and join us for a very special event!

Local author Mary Auld will be running a story time session reading her book How to Build an Orchestra in the Children's Library, accompanied by some amazing music from the London Symphony Orchestra.

No booking is required for this event, you can just turn up on the day!

How to Build an Orchestra is also one of our selected titles for the Summer Reading Challenge! You can sign up after the event.

We already have more than 100 images of the Major Oak in our collection, and we'd love your help to grow it and keep the memory of this legendary tree alive for future generations 💚

It includes some great titles from classics by Thomas Hardy and Daphne Du Maurier, to award-winners Elif Shafak and Susanna Clarke, local offerings by Matt Haig and T. M. Logan, and current favourites like Coleen Hoover and Richard Osman.

Whether you're a seasoned creator or just picked up a paintbrush recently, if you live in Nottinghamshire we would love to see a piece of your 2D or 3D work in our Inspire Community Open Exhibition 2026 at Inspire Beeston Library 🖼️

Join us on Wednesday 30th September as we celebrate the release of Red Witch, the first novel in a captivating new fantasy fairytale retellings series, by K.T. Kaye. The Newark-based author will share how her childhood love of fairy tales began her writing journey, answer guests’ questions, and chat all things books. This will also be a book signing event with exclusive copies of Red Witch available to purchase, either at the event or in advance with your ticket.
