Newark Orchard is an all needs special school that serves Newark-on-Trent and the surrounding area.

We support young people aged 4-18 with a range of needs including Autism, MLD, SLD & PMLD.

Hair dressing can be an incredibly stressful experience for our young people. We wondered whether school exploring a hairdresser attending Orchard after school hours would be something parents and carers might value? It would be essentially a pop up hair dressers in our salon so parents or carers would pay for and have to be responsible for transporting their child to and from school.

This post is to gauge whether there would be interest in doing this so feel free to put your thoughts in the comments.

Since September, our Post 16 students have been working on creating their own allotment here at school, and it has finally come to fruition! They have designed the layout, made fencing out of recycled pallets, built their own planters and decided what fruit and veg to grow. Our kitchen team has also been donating food waste for our compost bin so we can take one more step towards becoming a self-sustaining allotment! A huge thank you to all the wonderful students and staff who have made this project possible in such a short space of time.

Hagg Update!

Tonight is party night 🎉 The students are putting on their dancing shoes, slippers or PJs as we dance the final night away with tunes requested by Michael Jackson, Pink Pony Club and WHAM!

An early night was on the cards so that we were up and ready for the day! Some still needed a little nudge to get themselves out of bed though 😂 This morning the groups are either caving, climbing or visiting Bakewell! Weather is pretty grim but we're all togged up and making the most of it.
