MAJOR INCIDENT ‼️

As of 1:30 pm, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service has declared a major incident. This relates to the cumulative impact of multiple incidents placing significant pressure on operational resources, rather than a single incident in isolation.

The Service is currently operating with very limited resources and reduced pump availability. As a result, response times to any further incidents are likely to be delayed.

Still call 999 in an emergency.

We would like to remind people not to light any fires, such as campfires or BBQs, and to take extra care when disposing of ci******es due to the incredibly dry conditions, as a spark could spread quickly.

Before I launch into this post I'd like to extend a massive thanks to Toni&Guy, Starbucks and Newark radio who were incredible and without whom this fundraising challenge could not have taken place.

Earlier this year Sophie got in touch, an on call Firefighter from Worksop who had done the most incredible feat, she had beaten cancer and come back to operational duty, not only that but she had worked extra hard and been successful in the extremely competitive wholetime process and secured a job.....with us on Newark White Watch. She quickly became part of the team, no family, here at Newark so we were all devastated when we heard that on a well deserved dream holiday to the USA, postponed from 2024 when she received her previous diagnosis, Sophie had been taken ill again. The big C was back and now not only was she going to have to fight again, she was going to have to find $25000 in medical fees.
Well, she wasn't doing that alone, not while she's on White Watch Newark, and so the fund raising ladder climb was planned. Firefighters from Newark both Wholetime and on call and Worksop came together in the blazing heat and climbed up and down a 13.5m ladder to a combined height of 8000ft and raised £616 👏

Firefighters from Newark Fire Station are taking on our Charity Ladder Climb Challenge in support of Firefighter Sophie Easdon today in Newark Marketplace.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Sophie is now within touching distance of her fundraising. Firefighters will be climbing to help raise those final funds and show Sophie that we're right behind her.

White Watch at Newark were invited to attend 2 community events this weekend and with the hot weather continuing we thought it would be a fabulous opportunity to help educate the community on Water Safety, and demonstrate some rescue techniques.

Open water may look like the perfect way to cool down, but the water can still be extremely cold. There are also hidden dangers under the water which could hurt you.

If you do get into trouble in water, then try to float and shout for help. If you see somebody struggling in water, please don't go in after them - always call 999 📞🛟

We're at Nottinghamshire County Show today, and we have the Polaris wild fire unit from Tuxford with us.
Make sure you come and say hello.

Newark castle was the finish line of a 40km paddle board race today so we absolutely had to take the Specialist rescue unit complete with it's water rescue capabilities down to the river to support the racers and to chat about water safety with all of the friends, families and spectators at the event.
Well done paddlers, a great effort and fantastic to see everyone wearing a PFD!
